Incorporating our theme

So the FI and I are huge Dave Matthews fans and we have traveled around the country to watch them fperform for the past 9 years.  We are trying to incorporate this passion into our wedding.  Our friends and family think we are hysterical because of how much we love them and we think everyone would get a good kick out of having bits and pieces of our "slight obsession" on our big day.  Some things I've thought of so far are...   walking down the isle to an acoustic song of theirs, being introduced with thier song playing, trying to incorporate it into the invites, by making them look like a concert ticket or something, tables labeled by the cities we have traveled to to see them perform.  What are your thougts, do you think this is tacky???  Does anyone have any good ideas for other ways of incorporating a theme????  Thanks so much!!!!!

We almost did this for ours, but ended up changing our mind due ot cost - we found it would be a lot more expensive doing everything custom to go along with our favorite band, but... your escort cards can be VIP passes or backstage passes and a favor can be a lanyard to attach to it.  You can also do a ticket as a place card, and photot of you and the FI at the concert as the table numbers.  Good luck!  Hope it works out better for you than it did for us!  It's an awesome idea.

Our friends did something similar as a theme for their wedding - he played in a band so rock and roll was theirs. If you are willing to try things as DIY projects you can keep the cost down. They did a concert poster for their guest book and here are some examples they did:

I think the music thing is a definite -- we certainly didn't walk down the aisle to the traditional stuff -- we used acoustic Elvis for that, some Beatles for our sand ceremony, and REM for the recessional.  Also our first dance was Hepcat and our father/daughter and mother/son dance was Cat Stevens.  Seriously - do what you like.

As for the other stuff, if you DIY or use Vistaprint you could do escort cards, etc. to look like tickets, etc. - but I would be wary - you don't want it to be a kids birthday party and too theme-y.  Also, I hate weddings that don't have numbered tables - unless you have less than 10 tables, it's too difficult to find your seat.

    xlizellx-

Thank you for the info!!!..... I defintiely DO NOT want it to be too birthday party-y!!   Never thought about the table # issue but I can see it becoming one!    I used Vistaprints for our housewarming party and liked them....thought they were kinda expensive though???  Do you think?    Anyway, thanks for all the info!!!!

I did EVERYTHING through vistaprint for our wedding -- and only paid shipping, ever.  You can sign up for coupons and get things free.  If I needed 250 things, I would order in the free batches of 50 or whatever -- but we did our save-the-dates, programs, thank-you cards, signs for the reception, posters for the hotel about our shuttle-bus, and maps/info cards for OOT boxes.  It was all free.

We did our escort cards as business cards - on one side we printed info about how to upload your digital pics to our snapfish account so we could all share pics and then on the other side we spent like $25 on a gift card to someone at my parents' church who hand-printed on the blank back the names.  It was great.
