Host Bar

My FI and I are debating over whether to have a host bar or not. The big thing we are worried about is that there is no way to predict how much it will cost. We are having 70 guests, 10 are kids and 10 are elderly so we will probably have about 50 people drinking something and about 20-30 that will really drink. Anyone have a ballpark that they found worked for them?

    hubby's parents were in charge of the bar so I don't know the figure they ended up paying. but I do know that what they decided on (after many a lengthy discussion) was to have a bottle of red and white per table, 2 free drinks from the bar, and otherwise you had to pay up.

    Our wedding was probably about the same size as yours and I think our bar cost was ~$2000.  I think that included the tip as well.
