I'm a still-to-be bride and not experienced.  But I have learned one thing about searching for your venue  -- that is to do your research.  By that I mean, a simple google search for your venue's reviews will tell you a lot about what previous brides have experienced there.  Of course, theknot is great for reviews but I didn't limit my research to bridal sites.  Trip Advisor and travel sites can tell you a lot too if the venue also offers accommodations.  I always gave the venue the benefit of the doubt for the odd bridezilla who might just be someone who complains about everything.  But when you start seeing complaint after complaint from different brides then it certainly should raise a red flag.
