California-Orange County

Outdoor/Rustic/Natural

I got engaged a couple weeks ago and I have no idea where to
begin....ive never even been to a wedding before! I want to start
looking at locations and was wondering if anyone could suggest a couple
places. I'm from the east coast and have only been in CA for about a
year and a half, so I do not know the area very well. We want the
wedding close to home (so. Orange County/ San Diego) and I am looking
for something rustic, natural and OUTSIDE. I fell in love with a place
called Figueroa Mountain Farhouse
(http://www.figueroamountainfarmhouse.com/index.html) but it is north
of Santa Barbara and too far away. I have researched some places in
san jun and trabuco canyon but couldn't find much regarding private,
rustic and natural. My dad suggested renting a house with a big yard
either on a ranch or overlooking the water. I thought the renting a
house idea was interesting but I don't even know if thats possible. I
want something very private & casual where people can play bocce and horseshoes after the ceremony...hence the big yard. I am probablly rambling but I
was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I've looked at Strawberry farms in Irvine and am not a fan. Also, I like the idea of the wedding in a park, but I want it to also have some sort of structure as well (house/ranch/etc) Any ideas???

There is a park in Orange/Anaheim Hills that is similar to Trabuco Canyon and you can do a wedding there.  I think it is called Oak Canyoon Nature Center and they do have a special area for events/weddings

I am having my wedding at Monteleone Meadows in october. Its in Murrieta, which is just outside of Temecula (inland and between oc and sd). Its a beautiful private property venue with a pond and gazebo.  I love it!

I would look at Santiago Oaks Regional Park. It's very inexpensive but absolutlely beautiful!

And try to google pics of previous weddings done at Santigo Oaks. The actual Santiago Oaks webiste does not do it justice.
