Wedding venues

I just got engaged on Christmas Eve! I have a lot of the wedding ideas such as color, date, and other stuff done, but I don't have a place to do the wedding.
We are wanting to get married on October 2nd, and it will be a fall theme. I have viewed a few places, but they are out of my price range. I have 5000 to spend on everything so I want a place that is not too expensive. we live 20 minutes south of Colorado Springs, although I'm not too worried about where it is. We are also looking for somewhere in the mountains or a place with spectatular views, since we plan on having an outdoor ceremony. Any ideas or suggestions are apppreciated! Thank you!

First of all- CONGRATULATIONS. Planning a wedding on a budget in CO can be challenging.  I'm doing the same myself - about $7000 but a budget none-the-less.

Not sure if you're doing a theme or not, but, start checking prices on catering, and tent rentals (if you're doing out doors, you'll want a crap weather alternative.).  Those can eat a chunk.  Food for guests is also a major chunk.  Perhaps check w/ some of the ranches in your area.  Mountain areas can be pricey. Not saying they're not worth it though.  You may find something that sounds expensive, but when you look at it, they bunch alot of the stuff you need into one hefty package.

Perhaps a local golf course? A local lake side area?  Is there a state park?  There's plenty of options, just gotta be creative!

    Happy planning!

Congrats first!!!! I want to recommend Wild Basin Lodge & event Center, in Allenspark, CO. They are a little expensive depending on how many you want. We have a bidget of 5000 also and we have went over it but the Venue is letting us work there in order to pay down the balance we love it. We have already determined that for our 60 guests if we work 30 times each we can pay for the whole event practicaly. Everytime you work you almost pay for one guest. It has gorgeous views, do yourself a favor and go check it out. I went up there last fall because that's when I had planned on getting married but then it got changed to June. If you want more info PM me, and I can figure out how to send you pictures I took up there. It is gorgeous and I recommend it to everyone getting married wanting a dream wedding in the mountains but can't afford it.
We recently helped at a wedding there were the couple worked for them for a year and they actually earned more money then they needed.

I've never heard of a place doing that - that's a really neat idea and a wonderful opportunity!

Yes I was dead set on this venue, but I couldn't afford it. When I went to visit they said I could work for them and pay it off that way. We love it and we get to see other weddings and it helps us pick things out for our wedding and teaches us what works and what doesn't.

Have you looked at The Lodge at Cathedral Pines in Black Forest (www.cathedralpines.biz)? Congrats and Happy Planning!
