What's up with that? (NWR)

I just moved to San Diego 9 months ago, and I have never seen pets in groceries stores until I moved here. Why? Why do people bring their dogs to the grocery store and is this considered normal behavior here?

It wasn't a few years ago....I find it a bit mind boggling myself and I've lived here most of my life.  Must be a trend from somewhere...I do wish that the store managers would inforce the "no animals but service dogs" policies though.....

I am not a SD local, but I believe it is against health regulations to have animals near food if I am not mistaken?? You may want to find out from the local health department if it is, and if it truly bothers you call and report the the stores in violation. I know in Arizona, pets unless service animals are not allowed into establishments that serve or handle food to the public. HTH

The Poster above is correct. It is illegal to bring pets into grocery stores in the state of Calif. unless they are licensed service dogs. I have seen it becoming more freguent too! I blame those celebrities doting their little dogs around in their little purses for setting the trend. People are becoming more and more unaware of proper behavior as time goes on. I just cringe everytime I hear a woman say "I have to pee" ....in public! Ladies aren't suppose to talk like that!!! But I remember hearing it numerous times back on "Friends" coming out of Cortney Cox and Jennifer Anniston mouths! Leads people to think it's acceptable.

Way to bring up a dead thread. You seem to be doing a lot of that tonight. Anyway, not everyone shares your opinion but that doesn't matter because it's illegal as PP stated.
