Cake recommendations?

Hello,

Does anyone know of a good cake maker in the Lincoln/Omaha area. I want something simple but elegant, tasty and not too expensive. I've been warned against HyVee. Any thoughts?

My best friend used Hy-Vee...they didn't set it up well and it tipped over. I knew another bride that used Hy-Vee (a different one), and her cake was red (wasn't supposed to be) and stained EVERYTHING. I've heard too many horror stories. Birthday cakes are good with them, wedding cakes, no way. We went to Cake Gallery, but they were rude and ignored us. We've had a couple of bad experiences with them with FI's kids's birthday cakes, so no to them as well. We are going with Linda Tills. Our samples were delicious!

We are using Annette's catering for our food and cake. We are doing cupcakes plus a "fake cake" (can't remember ther offical name) with just the top layer is cake. We just did our samples last week and they were AMAZING! Prices seemed pretty good to me, she does sheet cakes and stuff too to help with the cost. Definitely worth looking into. She has a kitchen in Omaha and Lincoln.

I agree that the Cake Gallery people are rude and do ignore you.  I recommend the Cake Specialist in Bellevue, NE.  Their cakes are delicious and reasonable.  The staff is uber friendly.  They made my best friend's bachelorette cake last year, and did a terrific job.  Check out their website!

What about Butterfly Bakery or Sweet Art Wedding Cakes?  I've seen Sweet Art at bridal shows and my cousin had Butterfly Bakery do hers.  Just a few more options!
