Nice MI Beaches???

My fiance' and I were going to get married next year on Miami Beach in Florida.  We decided to keep the wedding in Michigan to make it easier on the family, and it'll be more in our budget.  Can you please give me some ideas of wedding worthy beaches in Michigan?  I live in Metro Detroit but anywhere in Michigan will do!  Thank you!!!Laughing

  • On the left side, click on Local Wedding Boards and find the MI board and ask there.  The rest of the boards are international, so you'll get more help on the local board.

  • Please refer to the sticky I made referring to finding vendors in your local area. It would be best to post this on your local board. GL!
  • Ditto PP, but since I didn't see you post on the Detroit board I'll say that you're only going to find nice beaches on the west side of the state-  unless you're cool with a LITTLE lake (instead of a Great Lake) and then Bloomfield Hills/ surrounding area would work- there are only about 812 lakes in Oakland County.

  • Holland is beautiful, Tunnel park is amazing. Also Grand Haven, Saginaw, Muskegon...all of these cities are beautiful.
Ludigton's state park is amazing too. They have an awesome site for sunsets.

<div>I second all of these. I love Grand Haven and Holland. Just make sure your dates doesn't fall during a festival! It'd be terrible to get a ways into planning and realize that its the same weekend as the Coast Guard Festival or the Tulip Festival. </div><div>
</div><div>Also, maybe Traverse CIty or Mackinaw Island. </div>
  • Suagatuck (sp?) over on the west side fo the state is beautiful.  Around St. Joseph?  Probably cheaper than more touristy places, if that's a concern for you.  :0)

Another vote for Ludington or Pentwater.  Pentwater is a smaller town with fewer festivals than Ludington, so you may be able to have a more private affair.  Definitely check with the Chamber of Commerce etc. to make sure you don't have a date during a festival, unless you think you can manage that! It gets very crowded in July usually. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />
  • We are getting married on Torch Lake which is about 30 minutes north of Traverse City.  It was rated the third most beautiful lake in the world by National Geographic so I don't think you can get much better than that in Michigan!  My family has had a place there for years and there is so much to do around there.
