Luminaria - How many for driveway?

We are planning to line our driveway with luminarias.  I am trying to figure out how far apart to space them.  Any ideas?  Our driveway is about 1/3rd of a mile long and I would like them on both sides.

Well if your driveway is 1/3 of a mile long and you placed them approximately 10 ft apart you would need 176 per side.

One neat idea that I've seen is to place them farther apart at the beginning of the driveway and have the space between them decrease as you get closer to the house.

Well, I guess it might depend on if you're using them purely for aesthetics or as a functional lighting source as well.

If purely aesthetic, PP's suggestion sounds great!

If as a functional lighting source, you may want to place them no more than 3 to 4 feet apart (the length of a stride), on both sides of the driveway.  I have no idea if that makes sense, but I hope it helps.  Ugh.
