Proposals

How long were you with your FI before he proposed? Have any fun proposal stories?

Re: Proposals

  • We were together two years before we got engaged. Our proposal was kinda weird. We were in a coffee shop in Seattle with my Mom, my son, and he had the baby backpack on his back with our little girl in it. We were spending the whole day in Seattle until we had to bring my Mom and son to the airport so they could catch a 10pm flight back to Maine. We were all tired and my mom wanted to go back to the car and sit, but Chris insisted that she come with us to get some coffee or tea. The coffee shop was called Local Color and it is located right near Pike Place Market. I was tired and kinda grumpy, and in desperate need of a latte. So my sweetie went and ordered me a coffee while we all sat in the back of the coffee shop. My mom and son sat at a little table, and I sat at a bar facing the wall on a bar stool. When Chris came back he had my latte, and in the foam the barista made pretty heart design. I put my coffee down, and as I did Chris knelt down. I thought he dropped something. It's kinda hard to kneel down with a baby on your back! I was wrong he didn't drop anything! We he looked up at me sitting on my bar stool he said something like "Well, if I don't do this now I don't know when I will be able to do it." Chris really wanted to propose with my family there so that was his chance. I couldn't believe what he had said! It took a moment to register what was going on. He pulled out this big ring that was sterling silver with marcasite and had the face of a lady on it. The only thing I remember saying was "you're doing this here???" I wasn't trying to be mean, but I think I was just in shock. Chris says that I said yes, but I remember saying "I guess so"! I guess that was good enough. I was actually looking through all of the pictures on my computer the other day and I ran across the pictures. :)

  • That is sooo cute <3

I was with my FI almost 2 years before he proposed to me. We go to a Japanese anime festival every year in Seattle called Sakura-Con. Its full of Japanese culture (Which we both love) and also has anime, cosplaying, etc..
We were in a lecture room listening to a talk about animation and a gaming site we both liked at the time. At the end of the program, the speakers asked if anyone had any questions. David raised his hand, and when they called on him - he said: "I'd like to know if Aya will marry me." Aya is my nickname. I was stunned, and shocked and everyone turned around in their seats and were staring. Somehow I managed to accept and everyone started clapping and whistling. It was super cute!
  • That is such an awesome proposal story that it kinda made tear up! Plus, I got the goosebumps.....

Awww, I love that. And I must go to Sakura-Con! Jeez, where have I been. It sounds awesome. Our story is in my bio. It involves nakedness and embarassing things <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-surprised.gif" border="0" alt="Surprised" title="Surprised" />

  • It was December the 22nd I'll never for get it...Raven came home from work and was excited and told me to dress nice we're going out but, he wouldn't tell me where.  I got ready he was figety the entire time. I was thinking that maybe he was going to pop the question.  Anyway we ended up at this pizza place he had taken me to on my first visit to Houston (we were doing the long distance thing in the begining) and he did.  I'm not the emotional type but, I cried in public this was one of the happiest moments of my life to have finaly found the greatest man ever .  We both had to go through alot of pain and grief to get here for me it was the eding of a 10 year marriage and for him a series of bad relationships.  I wouldn't trade any of it or have done anything differently because if I had we might not be together today.
