I have been using the Anti-Bride Wedding Planner and I love it. I don't really consider myself an "anti-bride" or anything, and I'm not doing anything super unconventional for our wedding, but the planner works perfectly fine for "regular" brides. I just liked it because it was full of really great ideas and tips and had a ton of room for sketches, notes, etc. All the planning worksheets were a lot better than most of the other planners I had seen. Here is an amazon link so you know what it looks like., but I got mine at Barnes & Noble, so I am sure your local bookstore will have a copy. http://tinyurl.com/ybw6w3b As a gift my mother got me this set that came with a couple different planning things. Here's the link to it on Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/ydw4zry It came with a couple different useful things, but the workbook it comes with is also fantastic. I haven't really used anything else in that kit, but I have used the workbook a bunch

I thought this one was very comprehensive and it's been a lot of help so far: http://www.amazon.com/Wedding-Book-Big-Your-Day/dp/0761139605

I think it's called "The Wedding Book" by Mindy Weiss.  She's a celebrity wedding planner and this book has EVERYTHING that you could ever need.  I just recently got engaged and had this recommended to me.While it is comprehensive, it can be a bit overwhelming and daunting at first but don't let that stop you.  But it has great tips, tricks, and information about all aspects of the wedding.  I also like that it has the history about various traditions.

I am so glad you wrote this.  I purchased an organizer with a three-ring binder that almost has nothing in it but worksheets and foldertabs.  (Bravo! Wedding planner)  I need something more to compliment it, something with substance, tips, advice, etc.  So I'm buying the Big Book.  Thanks!

My mother-in-law to be sent me a helpful book called "Emily Post's Etiquette." If we didn't have such a great relationship I might have been offended haha. It has a large wedding section with tons of "how-to" tips.
