Glad to finally have someone else that's using Lake Katherine. Have you thought about details of your ceremony there? You may have to contact them again via phone and email, it took me a couple of tries to get in contact with them.

We FINALLY set our appointment to sign the contract for tomorrow!  We tried calling and email.  She seemed to get me confused with another lady when we contacted her initially and they are only available limited hours.  I guess we'll figure it out!

We'll be using the Anniversary Garden for our Ceremony, but we'll get photos at all of the locations.  We'll build our own arch using lumber and then add some fake flowers / vines and tulle.  We have a 3 piece Celtic Tribal band (bagpipes & drums) that is acoustic that will be doing our music while guests are being seated.  Then that combo and a fiddler will walk us down the aisle (no 'here comes the bride,' something original will be written by our friends).

I think we may come from the Waterfall area for our walk.  We'll have to check it out again, but the bridge is the enterance for everyone.  If someone shows up late or is just walking around, I don't want them walking up in the middle of it!  He will bring his parents out with him.  And my parents will walk me down the aisle.

Our Reception will be at Royalty West.  We're having a Renaissance Faire themed Wedding and Royalty West is a Castle!  This is quite fitting for us!

    What's your plan?

Wow you have everything planned out pretty well.

We'll be using the Anniversary Garden as well and will be taking pictures after the ceremony at Lake Katherine as well. I'm thinking at the Anniversary Garden and definitely the Waterfall. I heard that the School House Arch was pretty far. I'm thinking about getting an arch from Hobby Lobby and decorating it. I think it will be cheaper than renting one from the company that they recommend. Besides at least I can decorate my own in advance.

As far as the music, I'm think about getting a radio to play my music and have someone in charge of that. I do want my guests to hear the officiant and us saying our vows so I thought about getting a radio with a mic. Like a karaoke machine. This should be able to take care of all audio. I've been searching online for an updated one. I have a really old one from when I was a kid that takes cassettes and I definitely don't want to use that.

I never thought about walking from the waterfall. I was trying to look around when I was there to see where I can walk from and it looks like I would be better off walking from the bridge. Not sure if I will start the actual "walk" from the bridge or start that at the beginning of the aisle to the arch. Also not sure if I will walk with my father from the bridge or from the beginning of the aisle. Still trying to figure that out. Suggestions are welcome if you have any. The waterfall walk sounds like a great idea but I can be clumsy at times and kind of nervous about walking that distance in the grass. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />  As far as everyone coming from the bridge I think I will have my ushers hold them off just for the short moment that I walk on the bridge.

My reception is about 5 minutes from Lake Katherine at the Doubletree hotel in Alsip.  That will also be my rain location if the weather doesn't agree with an outdoor ceremony. Hopefully it does becaused I'm excited about the ceremony at Lake Katherine.

When we went there today to sign the contract and there was a wedding ready to begin.  As were were leaving they were starting so we waited and watched!

Like you I guess I didn't get a good look around either!  There isn't much of a better way to get down the aisle... The best way is the bridge and we felt ackward walking up with the bridal party getting prepped, but we had no other way in!  Someone forgot to tell us that there was an event set up for both the garden and the auditorium (in case of rain).

So... We're thinking that we'll need to rent the auditorium as a back up (minimum 4 hours required) so people can use the facilities and we'll have a space to get ready, if necessary.  It will also be a space for people to "hide" I guess.

The Bride did come down the bridge, but her dad was waiting for her on the end of it. My guess was that he couldn't walk quite that far.  Which seemed to go well.  There were only a couple of people lingering.
