Bakeries for unique but reasonably priced groom's cake

Anybody know of one?  I want something like this:

Where can I get something like this and not pay $300 for a cake for 25 people?

If you look at the photo galleries, Oak Mill Bakery has a cookie monster cake that could probably be transformed into something close to what you need.  Lovin' Oven Cakery and Central Continental Bakery also have cakes that lead me to believe they could do something for you.

However, their sites all seem to say that for specialty cakes like that, it must be of a size that serves 30 or more people.  I am guessing that the cost would be quite expensive as well.

Deerfield Bakery makes a lot of really cute miniature 3D cakes.  I think they cost @ $4 or $5 a cake.  Perhaps you could purchase something like that and have it placed atop some sort of round or sheet cake to make it affordable?  Or maybe you could buy a few to surround a lesser expensive cake?  Just a thought...

Not all of their examples are pictured.  I bought a mini cake that looked like a zebra for my daughter, and that isn't pictured, so I am sure they could make something for you as well.

  • I'm not sure of the cost exactly, but Lovin Ovens Cakery is doing our wedding cake and groom's cake and I think it'd be worth asking! The lady we were working with is named Sara from the Round Lake Beach location. When we went to our tasting it was amazing and I have high standards!! :)
