beachfront rentals??

I have been searching for reception venues and I'm finding that site fees start at $1500 just for the venue. I am considering renting a beachfront home so we can stay there and use it as our venue as well..that way we can save some $$. Is this a good idea? Is anyone else planning to do this?Suggestions please..thanks!

A girl I met on aonther wedding site rented this property for her wedding:  http://www.lahainaoceanfrontestate.com/ It's a beautiful home, but the yard isn't very big so she set up her tables on the porch, it was a beautiful wedding.  Not sure how many people this property can handle though.  Good luck!

Beachfront tends to be pricey... as soon as you mention the word wedding or family reunion, the price seems to skyrocket, you know?

Jujubee96 rented a place and had her weddining ceremony on the beach and the reception at their oceanview (it's on a hill) home. It's something to consider, anyway. Here are the links to her bios.

We were going to do that at first too, but it became pricey.  ANd if you mention wedding party... they say NO! ;(  So we are planning a beach wedding with a luau reception.  Accommodations might be at the Sheraton or possibly a vacation condo.  Good Luck!
