Hi! Saw your post from a couple of weeks back (sorry! I'm not on here much anymore) and I just wanted to say that we used a paper cutter for our basho paper and they turned out fine... no frayed edges! We used double sided tape to secure the paper to our invites and they held up great! Good luck! I love the look of the basho paper! It gave a really nice island feel to our invites!
