Violinist

So, we are not allowed to have any type of small portable speaker system to play music on the beach where we are getting married in Dewey Beach Delaware. I am looking for a violinist to play during the ceremony because I'd like to have some form of music.
Does anyone know of any solo violin musicians in the Delaware area?

I would also recommend several avenues to try:

One, contact the Delaware Symphony or the Delaware Orchestra.  They may have recommendations, but I can't promise price.  http://www.delawaresymphony.org/education.htm

Two, contact the Newark Orchestra.  They may be able to help you out as well.  http://www.newarksymphony.org/

Three, contact the University of Delaware.  Both the orchestra there and the music degree program have people in it that are extremely talented (UD's Music programs are very competitive and highly ranked).  Here are several links for the UD programs:

Four, contact the Governor's School of Excellence.  Governor's school is for Juniors in HS (I went for academics), and they have sections in academics, art, dance, drama, and all instruments (voice as well).  They may be able to point you to someone who can help you out, especially for talented students, since it's all by audition only.

Five, contact Accent Music.  Since they offer lessons there, and are pretty much the only music store around here, they may be able to point you in a different direction.


Another suggestion I would make is to look into a student from one of the schools.  These students are no ordinary violin players; they are GOOD.  They have to be to get into the school for training (when I say school, i mean like a music school); these kids regularly play with the Delaware Orchestra.  Don't let the word "student" throw you off, because they are truly talented and gifted. 

We have a girl in our youth group who plays violin and her sister plays cello, and she spends 8 hours every Saturday at Music School, in addition to practicing; she had to audition to get in, and works very hard to be good at what she does.  She's amazing, and plays at our church quite frequently.  Here are a couple of schools you might contact, and if you would like, I can talk to the girl at my church for more info on other schools and maybe other students who would be willing to play.

I hope that helps; I know you want to save some money, so I tried to think of avenues that may be cheaper than booking a known quartet or person that only does this for a living.  Your best bet, IMO, is the UD Music Program or one of the Music Schools- the quality (and the price) will be perfect.
