Cake - Please send your opinions

Hey, looking for cake options. I have a picture picked out and I think it's simple enough for anyone to do it, but I'm looking for fun flavors. Who all have you/are you using for cakes and, if I may ask, what is the price per slice? Thanks everyone!

I am using Hyvee on 108th and fort. We are doing, White, Choc, Red Velvet, Turtle, and Carrot. We are having cake as the centerpiece for each table...with a wedding cake to cut. She has been so wonderful to work with!

Linda Tills. You can't beat $0.75/slice, doesn't matter if it is a large, tiered cake or sheet cakes. Each piece of cake has two layers, either chocolate/chocolate, chocolate/vanilla, or vanilla/vanilla. You can choose from several fillings, at least 20... We are going with the strawberry and snickers for sure!

I forgot to add this part--her cakes are wonderful! We tasted several at bridal shows, but she had the best-tasting cake!

We used Dorothy Thompson of Omaha Pastry. http://www.omahapastry.com/index.php?p=fotosList Her pink champagne and strawberries cake is the best I've ever had.  SUPER moist and uses fresh strawberries and buttercream.  She charges 3.00 a slice though, but we didn't have a giant cake so it wasn't too pricy for us.  She can do just about anything as far as decorations.

We used Linda Tills and I'm really glad that we did. She books up fast though so make sure go after her quick. I believe we paid $0.95 / a piece but we did upgrade on a couple things.

Diane Severson has the most moist and unbelievably delicious cake! I am very picky about frosting and hers is amazing! We are going with white cake with fresh strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream frosting and chocolate almond cake with chocolate filling/frosting. Her cake is $1.65 a slice, but she only does one wedding per weekend, so she books up fast! You can reach her at 493-0807.

Danielle at BabyCakes!  Her cakes are amazing and so so yummy!  The cakes are extremely creative.  Most cakes are $2 a slice.  http://www.babycakesomaha.com/#

Try the Upstream Brewery (they make all their own deserts and are now doing a ton of wedding cakes on top of their catering business). I'm a big fan of Chef Grant and I've tried almost everyone in town.We are having a white cake with almond frosting and strawberry filling. We are also having a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and some kind of candy filling (something like snickers or peanut buttercup. They also recommended a twix filling but that goes with white cake and we were in love with the strawberry filling already.I am doing a complicated 4 tier cake that has buttercream frosting, two different kinds of cake/frosting and two different colored fondant circles all over the cake. So my prices are a little high but worth the design, the fun and quality

Ditto PP about Diane Severson. Her cake is amazing. We went classic and had white cake/vanilla frosting and chocolate cake/chocolate frosting. It was classic and perfect. The cake also looked gorgeous. I highly recommend her!

My pancreas may go into shock from all the wedding cake my fiance and I have tried. Word of advice: when you go to try cakes and want different flavors, be prepared to have everyone give you their basics--even if you ask for something different. Most every baker we met gave us chocolate with a cream filling, almond with a raspberry filling, or "pink champagne" with strawberries. Thats great for lots of ladies, but it bored me. I've been told a lot of couples say they want something different, but end up using one of the aforementioned concoctions. Just something to keep in mind if you are really looking for fun flavors--you may have to be patient. The bakers who actually gave us something different were Dorothy (mentioned above), who we ended up going with, and A Piece of Cake. Good luck--to you and your pancreas!!

My FMIL is making our cake, she use to make cakes professionally, and they are wonderful! I can't say I didn't go taste test at Bridal shows, because I did, and I have to say that Pettit's bakery off 156th and Maple is amazing...just an option to look into

I'm also using Linda Tills.  I've tried a lot of cakes at bridal shows, even went to an appointment to book Simply Elegant...but after a $900 estimate for only 150 people, I felt that was WAY too much for a cake.  Linda Tills is 75 cents a slice, regardless if its a bridal cake or groom's cake.  She has lots of flavors to choose from, and before she books you, she brings you two "sample" cakes...there were the size of the top layer of a bridal cake!  They were delicious & stayed moist in our fridge for 3 days (that's how long they lasted!!  My FI is NOT a cake eater, but LOVED her vanilla cake, with vanilla buttercream frosting & strawberry filling).  Her chocolate cake, with chocolate buttercream & strawberry filling was just as delicious!
Lesley and Casey I dreamed of a wedding of elaborate elegance, A church filled with family and friends. I asked him what kind of a wedding he wished for, He said one that would make me his wife. ~Author Unknown

We got our cake from Cake Specialists in Bellevue! They were wonderful to work with and very reasonably priced! There was not one piece of left over cake because so many people went back for seconds and thirds! Yum!
