Omaha Honeymoon?

Hey Omaha peeps,

My fiance and I are planning a honeymoon and are considering Omaha. Are there any local hotels, attractions you all think are worth seeing in Omaha? We have a budget of $800 and may be going over the 4th of July. Where are the best fireworks? Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

P.S. We're not sports fans, but we like museums, music, good food, and adventure.

I would go to omaha.com.  They have lots of listing.  We have durham western heritage museum, joslyn art museum, and our zoo is awesome.  I don't know what music things are going on, but I am sure there is something at the stir concert cove across the river in council bluffs.  Lots of food place and I would suggest staying downtown, there are lots of places within walking distance.  HTH :D Happy Planning

Check out our visitor center website:
    http://www.visitomaha.com/visitors/things-to-do/

They have a list of events going on that weekend on that website as well.

I would reccomend staying in our downtown area called The Old Market. They have a really nice Embassy Suites at the end of the block where you could walk to EVERYTHING from there. Also they have a shuttle that will take you within usually a mile or so from the hotel. Not sure who is having fireworks but there is a new ballpark just a few blocks from there and they usually have fireworks at every 4th of July game and you could hang out at Heartland of America Park and watch them I am sure.

If you have any questions let me know. :-)

Definitely check out the zoo!  There are tons of really neat places in the Old Market, too!

Check out the casino websites-they usually have live music every weekend :-)  Have a blast!

to check for music be sure to check out the mid america center, qwest center and Sokol Auditorium.  The Waiting Room also has music events but is located a bit further from the three previously listed venues and tends to have more local bands.

Also in the summer omaha has Gallery walks.  You go from gallery to gallery collecting a stamp from each gallery visited.  At the end of the evening you meet at a bar and can enter drawing for art based off how many galleries you made it to.  Many of the galleries offer free wine and appetizers and all are free entry.  Its a fun event that happens every event though you may want to check to make sure that it doesnt change by the time you come to town.
