David Tutera "My Fair Wedding"

Maybe I am just watching too many wedding shows. . . . but does anyone else think that David Tutera is a pompous a$$???

All he does is take a bride on a very limited budget, give her a bunch of condensending looks and comments, and then throws more money on her wedding than she could ever imagine.  He moves the reception from a VFW Hall to a 4 Seasons hotel ballroom, gets a designer dress, and gets a ton of flowers.  And then he looks like a great planner?  WTF?

How about working your 'magic' on what the bride and groom already have?

Am I the only one that doesn't like him??

Not only do I hate that part of it, but I feel like those brides just throw random stuff together just so they can be on the show.  Some of those girls either have the worst taste on the planet (the candy bouquet made me stop watching) or they don't have the right intentions and the show is blowing their money on people that don't deserve it.

I watch this show.  But, I totally agree.  Trust me, if I had an unlimited budget, my wedding would be fantastic too!!  I understand wanting to upgrade parts of the wedding, but it is usually something completely different.

On a side note, am I the only one who thinks most of his decorations are over the top and hideous?  I mean, in the season premiere, the wedding ended up taking place in a GORGEOUS ballroom, with a beautiful ceiling and all, but you couldn't see it because he covers up every square centimeter of the actual place!  I mean, I understand if you have it at the VFW and want to cover the walls, but, when you are in a gorgeous setting like that one, you don't want to take away from the natural beauty of the room.  If that's the case, do it ANYWHERE and cover it up (for a lot cheaper too).

I'm glad to see someone else thinks it is a bit outrageous.  In these times where everyone is trying to budget, how about showing us some things that we can all do and afford to make our weddings beautiful, unique and special.  That doesn't include spending $100,000 on roses flown in from all over the world.  He should be a bit more environmentally friendly too!

Ok....that's my rant about him :-)

    Freckles.

You make a very good point.  I bet you that some of those 'choices' made by the bride are not real at all.  I bet alot of that is fake just to make the show seem better!!

I mean heck, maybe I should throw some super tacky backyard wedding together and then get David Tutera to come into Columbus and have him move my wedding to the Westin or Hilton Easton for free!!

Unfortunately he only does weddings in specific areas like NJ/Philly, etc.  I looked when I was frustrated as hell when planning my wedding, lol!
Bridezillas was the only show that would come this way.  And there was no way in this world I was going to be on that show.  Even if it's my guilty pleasure... BUT my DH's g-parents are on this season though!  If you see a scary vampire wedding, they'll be on it probably with their eyes bugging out, lol!

I think what bothers me the most about him, aside from what you mentioned, I totally agree is his over use of flowers.  They are every where and seem idk over done... could be me...

Sarah -another good point.  He does seem to go overboard with the flowers!!  But when I read his bio on his website it sounded like he was originally a florist - so that might explain alot.

I think it seems rude or just mean, I saw bits of one where a bride wanted a casino themed wedding. I think that sounds neat and different. he changed EVERYTHING and said NO. Whats wrong if a  bride wants a tacky wedding its her day and she will be the one that willl have to remember it forever. lol.. I  mean sure you can help make it "better" but dont completely take away her vision for her day. Also the flowers are WAY overboard

Buckey- I had no idea he was although that would make sense.  I think these women try and its never good enough for him.  The more I watch the show the more I wouldnt want him to do my wedding and I can hear him disagreeing with all my choices.
