Minnesota-Minneapolis and St. Paul

Venues

Hello! I am recently engaged and have started the process of trying to find a venue in the Minneapolis/St Paul area. I’d prefer something in the Apple Valley/Eagan/Lakeville area. Does anyone know of a venue in that location that’s not extremely expensive (example: not a venue that has a 10-15k minimum)? We are looking at November 2013 so it would probably need to be indoors so our family from Arizona doesn’t freeze! J I greatly appreciate any ideas! Rachel

Re: Venues

  • Profile Event Center is where we are doing ours. They have a lower minimum in the off season (also no room rental, so that's a plus). The Diamond room is cheaper, though it depends on how big your guest list is. Otherwise hotels tend to be somewhat reasonable but I can't remember any of the pricing from the research I did last year. We recently went to receptions at the Hilton Garden Inn in Mpls (liked the space, didn't like the weird roads and paying for parking, but that's typical of Mpls) and the Rosemount Community Center (cousins also did their receptions here years ago, nice space, potentially cheap!).

Are you looking for a ceremony space too? I would have loved to do our ceremony at the Como Park Conservatory but it wasn't big enough for the number of guests we wanted to have. So if your list is smaller, check it out! :-)

  • Our reception is at the Eagan Community Center on 5/25/13. The room rental was $1500 I believe. We signed our contract in June of this year and there were 3 caterers to choose from. The two we had tastings with did not have food minimums. The ECC has a separate liquor provider and right now it's through Roasted Pear. A benefit of RP's bid at ECC is that they also accept credit cards whereas the prior provider only allowed cash.

  • Try Lost Spur golf course in Eagan. They aren't too pricey, but they do hold multiple events at once.

Also, you should look Turtle's 1890 Social Centre in Shakopee for sure. VERY affordable and really pretty. It's not too far out.

  • Community Centers and City/State Parks would be a good bet, also most common venues have lower pricing in their 'off' season, which November would be in.

How big is your prospective guest list?

  • Guest list is around 100-125 right now. We were looking into Steeple Center in Rosemount but found out it  could be potentially a construction zone at some point in 2013 depending on if a building close by gets the permit they need.
  • We are getting married at the Dakota Lodge in West St. Paul next weekend, part of Dakota County Parks and Rec. It is not too far away from where you are looking. The building and setting are very nice & they have a flexible catering option (rare among venues). You can hold the ceremony inside or out, & we are hoping for a brief outdoor ceremony.
  • holiday inn lakeville min is about $5k

  • Check out this list at the link below - you can sort by location and price. Besides what's been recommended; Grand Stay Hotel in AV, Brackett's Crossing, Legends Golf Club, Nicollet Inn (has been totally renovated) in Burnsville.
