Does anyone know a good pianist or violinist that will play outside and is not crazy expensive? I have had two people almost booked and they either said sorry booked someone else or cancelled on me as soon as I was putting the deposit in the mail.

I'd recommend looking on gigmasters.com. They have local musicians including violinists and pianists, with prices listed. They also have reviews for the musicians, and list their prices.

We found our wedding band through them and they were fantastic. It was also a fast way to find someone, as it was super-easy to listen to their music samples online. In addition, it is free.

i used Arioso Strings.  I don't know if their prices have changed, but it's $150 for any solo muisician for 45 minutes of music.  IMO, that's a very reasonable price for a pro.
