Minnesota-Minneapolis and St. Paul

Yet another reception venue post!

Still looking for a venue for our April 2013 wedding.
We're having the ceremony at my church in Plymouth and want a reception venue within 30 minutes from there.
Already have looked at Bearpath Golf, Medina Golf & CC, Theodore Wirth Chalet, Elm Creek Chalet, and Rush Creek.
Rush Creek was our 1st choice, but I just kept saying, "wanna look at more before I commit!"
And now that we were ready to commit -- everything is booked solid. I was considering moving our date into the following fall if all else fails, but I thought I should look and see if there is anything else open for April 2013.

I HAVE looked at the PCC online and they are open on our date of choice, April 6, 2013. SO, we could do that but I just need more ideas. (Also, anybody know who caters there? I see they work exclusively with 3 caterers but couldn't find them listed.)

Here is the dealio:

-150-200 guests
- no more than $1500 rental fee if open catering, otherwise, the food minimum should really be no more than $9000
-lots of natural light/windows
-within 30 minutes from Plymouth (any direction is fine!)

Any and ALL ideas are welcome. Gold course/ballrooms, banquet halls, apple orchards, banquet halls, restaurants, etc.
TIA!!!

Re: Yet another reception venue post!

  • Check out the Medina Entertainment Center.  They are really reasonably priced on their rental and minimums.
  • The Golden Valley Country Club is beautiful & has reasonable minimums, I think.
  • Thanks, ladies! Medina was a no-go with my mother =/
I did drop a quick message on Golden Valley CC's website and am anxious to hear back!

I also found Elsie's in Minneapolis. LOVE the look of their banquet room. The food min for a Saturday is only $2000 so that is AWESOME! The coordinator got back to me within several hours so that's a huge plus. I think I will schedule a tour!

  • I toured The Crown Room in Rogers and thought it was beautiful - lots of windows, could seat a lot of people, and a very helpful coordinator.  Could be about 30 minutes, depending on where your ceremony is at in Plymouth.  Good luck!
  • Shakopee might be too far, but I really liked the venue at Stonebrook Country Club.

  • Check out the Minneapolis Golf Club (in St Louis Park off 169).  Their ballroom is really nice and has lots of huge windows.  I think the rent is around $1000 and the f/b minimum is $5000 so it sounds like it would fit your needs.  Good luck!

I got married there and loved it. They have gotten a different catering manager since then, so I can't speak for the new person.

Chaska may be a bit far from Plymouth, but if not, you should look at Oak Ridge Conference Center. The main dining room is 3 story floor to ceiling windows!  The f/b for Fridays is in your budget, but on Saturdays it is over your budget - however April may be considered off season so then there may be different f/b minimums.  Oak Ridge has some convenient packages that include bonus items like floral centerpieces, a bridal suite for the wedding night, and a day of coordinator. I feel like you get good value for your dollar there.  We are getting married there in September and so far I couldn't be happier!
