HM in St Louis

Hi ladies! The HM poll reminded me to check here for some info.

FI and I were planning on spending the weekend after our wedding in Hermann, MO for Oktoberfest. Our wedding is on Sunday Oct 10, and we'd go to Hermann on Friday the 15th. However, now we're thinking we might want to go to St Louis from Wednesday - Friday since we've never been, and it's just an hour and a half more of a drive.

So, anyone have any suggestions on places to stay/things to do/must sees? I'd love to stay in a nice but affordable boutique hotel or b&b (like, $150 a night area) so any suggestions on that would be GREAT!

I posted this in response to your earlier Honeymoon post too...

I'd really recommend going to Forest Park and you HAVE to eat Italian food on the Hill!  Forest Park is beautiful...you can walk/run/rollerblade, ride bikes, paddleboat, or just bring a blanket, lay down, and relax.  The Hill is this old Italian neighborhood (I think it has ties to the mafia)...some of the houses have been turned into Italian restaurants with the best Italian food I've ever eaten!!!  (Supposedly the guy that owns the Garozzo restaurants here in KC started on the Hill.)

    Here are some links:

     Both are totally underrated places!

When my fiance and I went to St. Louis two years ago, we stayed in a small suburb called Clayton.  It was close to downtown, yet a very quaint little community.  We stayed in a hotel, but if I remember right, there may have been some bed & breakfast places nearby too!

Another fun thing would be the Budweiser brewery.  We really wanted to do that, but you have to make reservations so far in advance.  And of course the Arch...pretty touristy, but still fun to go to the top!

City Museum!!  It's like a big giant playground with things like planes, tractors, and re-bar to climb through.  It's awesome!!

Every time I am there I go to Budweiser and eat at White Castle. Going up in the arch is pretty cool too.

If Grant's Farm is still there that was pretty cool the last time I was there. It had the Budweiser clydesdales. The Science Center is pretty amazing too with a cool IMAX theater. Also, make sure you try St. Louis style pizza!
