barn/farm/alternative receptions?

I am seriously struggling to find a reception location in st. louis (or within 30 minutes), where they could host a less formal reception- a party or picnic atmosphere. 120-140 guests.

thoughts? suggestions?

Outdoor?  I'd try local parks.  Vlassis Park in Ballwin will host that many for a picnic event.  So could Des Peres Park.  They also have a gazeebo where you could get married.

The Ridge Lodge is a great place for something like this. It's indoors so you don't have to worry about weather. But it has a wall of windows and its in the middle of a park. A friend of mine had her reception there and it was beautiful. She was able to bring in her own catering too.

Bee Tree Park in South County has several beautiful spots.  A lake, a large bluff gazeebo area looking down on the Mississippi, also there is a Mansion that is not open to the public but available for rental for weddings.  It is a beautiful building overlooking the river.  # 314-615-4386 for info/reservations.
There is also a large red barn in a field that's really stunning...
Bee Tree is really a beautiful park that offers amazing backgrounds for wedding photos.
As a side note- I have read other posts where there is no available spots to actually get ready/prepared for the wedding, so you might have to find an off location for that before the ceremony.
    Good Luck!

Thanks for all the GREAT ideas... we have decided on the Oakland House in Affton

not a barn, but it will be in a tent and we are going to be a bit rustic in the decor and it's in the fall, so hopefully the subtle hints of our "down home" roots are there!

    thanks again!

  • Rocking J is so beautiful and everything you could ask for expect for the price tag.  It's super expensive to get married there.  I would love to, but she wants $3,000.00 for ceremony, just to use it.  And that didn't include anything, like chairs for your guest.
  • did you try 3 barn farm? I have a friend looking at them currently!
