So we have an appointment with a local florist tonight and I was wondering what you guys are doing for flowers? How many are you planning on getting?

I think we are going to do...

My Bouquet
Bridesmaids Bouquets
Mens Boutonniers
the Parents of the Bride & Grooms Boutonniers
& possibly something small for the centerpieces (depending on how expensive flowers are)


I will let you know how the appointment goes tomorrow, but in the mean time I would love to hear what you are doing for flowers.

I have meet with 4 local florists this month! I have learned so much! 

I am getting 

My bouquet

no bouquets for my BM's. They will be getting clutches to carry down the aisles.

No boutonniers for the groom of GM. FI wants they to wear pocket squares instead.

I will be getting corsages and boutonniers for parents, grandparents, and officiant. 

pomanders for ceremony chairs.

a mix of floral and non floral centerpieces for recepetion tables 

I would LOVE to use peonies. They are my favorites, but I've heard from multiple sources they are one of the most expenisve flowers for weddings and they don't come in good quailty in august. So we are useing roses for the bouquets and boutonniers. And hydrangas for the centerpieces to get the same big pouffy looks as the peonies!

I am getting the same as you from our florist. FMIL has offered to DIY our centerpieces, which will be simple sunflowers in mason jars. BM bouquets will probably be all sunflower, and my bouquet will have blue hydrangeas mixed in. The only additional flowers we are ordering are flower girl baskets; they will each have a simple arrangement in them instead of petals. Do you know what kind of flowers you want to use yet?

Hey ladies...I'm new to the August board, I am also doing sunflowers for myself, bridesmaids and center pieces and the groom and groomsmen will not have any flowers. I hope your appt went well!

I am using floral designs throughout my wedding.  My event designer is also doing my personal flowers.  The plan right  now is to use real flowers but it the cost gets outrageous than I will use silks for some of the non-personal flowers.

We are doing roses, hydrangeas and calla lilies.

Centerpieces: Pink roses & white hydrangeas
My Bouquet: White roses, white hydrangeas, white calla lilies
BMs: I think pink roses & white calla lilies, maybe pink calla lilies
GMs/Dads/Grandfathers: White calla lily bout
Moms/Grandmothers: Will also have a pinned flower, not sure what though. Maybe a rose with some babys breath
Ceremony chair "buckets": All babys breath

There will be other vases around - dessert table, card box table, etc. - with all similiar flowers.

I am ordering mine from Samsclub.com and doing them the day before. Saving lots of money!

Making your own centerpieces is a great way to cut costs. I'm using fresh lemons! Our estimate was 900 without the centerpieces and I've seen friends shell out 4 and 5 thousand dollars just on flowers... Yikes. Just seems crazy to me.
