Hi...
My husband suprised me with a trip to vegas as a xmas/anniversary present. We are going in february!  So, Jaime..I know you went there for your HM?  What are some recommendations for shows, places to eat, etc?  If anyone else has been there...please weigh in.  We are excited!  We are staying at the Wynn Encore.

To throw in my 2 cents: We saw Terry Fator at the Mirage- such an awesome show! We saw Ka the last time we were there and wasn't overly impressed, though I heard the other Cirque du Soleil shows are awesome.

If you like German food/beer check out Hofbrauhaus! The food is great and the atmosphere is really fun. It is right across the street from the Hard Rock.

We also went to the top of the Eiffel Tower at Paris which was awesome. You can see the Bellagio fountain show from overhead, though there is usually a long line.

Have fun! I have been to Vegas 3x and am itching to go back!

We absolutely loved Ka, but Cirque is one of those things where people either love the particular show or hate it. We also went to a comedy show at the Tropicana one night, and one of the guys from Last Comic Standing was there. Watching the fountains at the Bellagio was one of our favorite things to do.

For restaurants, there is an Irish place in NY NY that is awesome. Mon Abi Gabi at the Paris is also good, and there is an amazing Italian restaurant at the Venetian that the name of is escaping me right now. If you want to leave the strip, a few blocks away (a $10 cab ride) is a place called Firefly Bistro. It's in the plaza with Ruth's Chris. It's a tapas place, and it was the best meal we had in Vegas.

I just wrote about Vegas in my fb status so I got excited when  I saw this =)

The Wynn is beautiful, great choice.

I have a map of the strip so I don't miss anything.

Attractions/shows: We've offically seen a ton of Cirque du Soleil shows including Ka, Mystere, and Zumanity. All of them were great. Zumanity isn't for everyone; very sexual and funny. We also saw the Criss Angel show at the Luxor and did the mid evil dinner at the Excalibur. I don't know if this is your thing, but we did the CSI experience at the MGM Grand, and omg you have to go see the lions there as well. We did the zoo at the Mirage. Right inside the zoo entrance is a frozen yogurt place that you have to go to; they have cheescake and red velvet, um yum!!! You can see the Bellagio water show, the TI pirate show (which DH calls it porn on a boat), and there's also a fire show which is good at night. Caesars also has great shopping as well as the Fashion Show mall.

Places to eat: One day, do a buffet. My favorite was one at the Mirage and TI. We also ate at Hooters (which is a must for us because NY sucks and we don't have one), The Rainforest Cafe in MGM, California Pizza Kitcehen in The Mirage. We also ate at this great little resturaunt in the Luxor, I think it was called The Burger Bar.

I'm going to say just walk the hotels as many as you can because they all have a lot to offer, and it's wonderful. The only ones that I wouldn't reccomend going to are The Palms, the Rio and the Stratosphere. They were very small and out of the way. Utilize the bus as much as possible if it's really hot.

I'd give anything to get on a plane right now and go back.

Thanks everyone!  We are so pysched! We are definitely going to do a cirque...actually there is a show called La Reve at our hotel, wynn, that seemed really cool, but we were also thinking of ka or mystere.  And yes, we will definitely be doing a lot of hotel/casino walking.....thanks for all the suggestions.  Did any of you eat at the top of the world restaurant or eiffel tower?  I know they are pricey, but wondering how good the food and views truly were?
    Thanks

I went to vegas w/ my girlfriends a few months bad an had a great time!! we saw a cirque show - O - at the bellagio - it was FANTASTIC!!! We took a ride to the top of the eiffel tower (there are coupons in the back of a lot of the cabs for that and many other vegas attractions). i loved this little irish bar in new york new york the best! we ate at D*ick's last resort in ny ny, olives in the bellagio, and this little yummy mexican place (i forget the name) in mandalay bay. def see the bellagio fountain show and any other hotel shows that you can!

I have to say, my fav day in vegas was the day we went to the pool at Mandalay - they have a LAZY RIVER, a general public pool, a wave pool, ANDDD a very chi chi adult only pool!  I think it was $10 access to all if you are not a guest there.

    Have so much fun!

We stopped in Vegas on our way to Cali this summer.  We had a really yummy dinner at Canaletto at the Venetian.  It was reasonably priced, good food, and right on the piazza which was fun.
Jaimie, there's a Hooters on 17 in Paramus and Rt 4 in Hackensack too :)
