Experience with UMass Club or Holiday Inn Beacon Hill?

Hi everyone!

Just wondering if anyone has held or has been to a wedding at the UMass Club or Holiday Inn Beacn Hill?  My FI and I have narrowed down our ceremony/reception choices to these two place -- both have amazing views of Boston, and prices are comparable.  So just wanted to get some collective wisdom before we make a decision!

Thanks!!

If you don't mind me asking, how much is the UMass Club per person? FI and I are in the beginning of looking and it's difficult without prices listed.

    Thanks!

No problem at all!  They do an a la carte menu, so you can pick what you want.  Just as a benchmark, their hor d'oeuvres are a little less than $4 a piece (on average -- some are more, some less); people say you usually need around 4-5 pieces per person for cocktail hour.  Then you can pick a station that range from $5 to $8 per person (but the person in charge told me you don't usually need a station for everyone -- e.g. if you have 100 guests, you can just get a station for 70 people).  Entrees are around $60 (higher price prevail), and that includes appetizer and salad courses.

They don't offer open bar during cocktail hour (which a lot of "packaged" places do).  4-hour open bar is $40. Their alcohol prices are very reasonable if you do it by consumption.

They do have a facility fee of $2000 (or $1500 if you find a UMass Club member to sponsor you), and a ceremony fee of $1000.

It's not the cheapest place -- not the most expensive of places with such a stunning view either.  Iit's really worth checking out, coz it's beautiful up there :)  All the staff I've met are great too.

    Good luck!

I'm having my wedding reception at the Holiday Inn Beacon Hill.  The view is amazing and they only do one wedding a day.  You also have the whole top floor to yourself for your wedding reception.  I thought their prices were reasonable for downtown Boston.  Paul the coorindator there is very friendly.  He does however, sometimes take a few days to answer emails, but overall my experience so far has been great.

Hi! I am also getting married at the Holiday Inn at Beacon Hill. My interactions with Paul (the coordinator) have been wonderful, he's very experienced and totally competent. He's also been really flexible and willing to work with us on everything. We loved the food at our tasting, and have seen the ballroom set up for a wedding--it will be beautiful! good luck planning :-)
