Addressing Invitations for old wife when husband in a permanent Nursing Home

Help!  I have to address an invitation to an old married woman but her husband is an a permanent Nursing Home.  Do I still include his name on the Invitation?

As long as they're a couple, yes include both of their names.

  • Yes, include both of their names and I would address it to her home. Not the nursing home.
  • I'd also include both names.

I'm not sure what age has to do with this.  As a matter of etiquette, you do not split up a social unit. If this is a <u>married</u> couple, you invite <strong>both</strong> and use the wife's mailing address.

[QUOTE]I'd include both names but I would let her know she is welcome to bring another guest if her husband can't make it.  My great aunt brought her daughter (great aunt doesn't drive) but I know she appreciated having her husband's name on the invitation.  Her biggest pet peeve is when people act like her husband is dead just because he has Alzheimer's and lives in a long term care facility.

    That is such a kind & thoughtful idea. I wish I could "like" your post. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />
