Unresponsive Etsy seller

I ordered a custom map dish from an Etsy seller back on August 7th. Since it was a custom order I figured it would take several days to make and everything, but as of Thursday the 27th it still didn't show that s/he had shipped it. So I sent him/her a message that day asking when it would be shipped. Still no reply. Has anyone had this situation on Etsy? Any advice on what I do now? This is really annoying because now the gift is totally late.

  • It's summer. Everyone's away. Give 'em a few more days, they might be at the beach. If you don't hear from them in a week cancel your credit card. Re-shop.
  • I don't mean cancel your whole credit card. Ya know, cancel that order using cc protection.
  • I had something similar happen with an etsy seller a few months ago.  However, she did promptly respond to my messages.  I basically told her I'm not her baby sitter and that if she couldn't get it out in a timely manner she should reimburse me, which she did.  I was upset because obviously I wanted what I ordered but I wasn't going to worry about it for months on end.  Long story short, tell him you'll give him a bad review if he doesn't hurry up.
  • Yes, Mag, the map dish. That's what's really heartbreaking. I've been trying to hide this from you so you wouldn't have to share in the sorrow. Bombus is totally letting me down. I'll give him a couple more days and then tell him I'm canceling my order and writing a bad review if he doesn't get back to me ASAP.

    Isnt there something you can do between you/etsy/seller to resolve the issue. Have you checked their main page to see if they are on vacay or turned their store off? I cant remember how etsy works because I havnt used it in a while, but I think you can write a negative review for lack of delivery and they deal with it accordingly.
  • He didn't have a vacation message when I placed my order and I haven't seen one any time that I've checked back. He has 100% positive reviews so maybe he has been OOT or something and forgot to put up a notice. It's just so frustrating to have paid for something and then not have this person respond.
  • I ordered wooden "I DO" letters from an Etsy seller last fall and she bolted with my $25 never to be heard from again. I didn't have PayPal, so I sent her a check before she made the letters. Her ratings were 100% positive, so I figured she was legit. I contacted Etsy Abuse and they contacted her several times. They also tried to put us in touch, but she was non-responsive. They ended up deleting her account, but I never got my money back and she may be using another name now. Who knows.

  • Yeah, this happened a few months after I had ordered a $50 purse online and never received it or heard back from the seller. I have lost a lot of faith in online sellers. I should mention that the Etsy seller was always responsive. She responded to my messages, we decided what colors I wanted, I told her when the wedding was and then by the end of Jan, I messaged her to see when they might be done (I had ordered them mid-Nov and told her to take her time over the holidays.) I never heard from her again.
