What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

Basically congress is divided (not even by parties, it's pretty even across the parties) about an amendment that would allow suspected terrorists to be held, without cause, without trial, for an indefinite amount of time. 


I find this so wrong.  I understand not giving them bail or letting them out between suspicion and conviction.  But they are taking away a basic human right here, IMO.  Someone could just end up being at the wrong place at the wrong time and be held in prison for life because of it.  If you're that positive a person is a terrorist and have enough proof to be that positive, then giving them a trial should be no problem.
