How to address invitations...

We have a few engaged couples who are invited to our wedding who will not be married by the time that the invitations are sent out, but will be married by the time that our wedding comes around. My question is, how do we address the invitations?? I thought that the obvious answer would be to do it to "Mr. Sam Jones and Ms. Sally Smith," but then I got to second guessing myself. Would it be that way or should it be something like "Mr. and Mrs Sam Jones?" I think this is just one of those things that I am way over thinking,,,

Thanks for the advise and have a great weekend everyone!!!!!!!!

Re: How to address invitations...

  • Mr. Sam Jones
    Ms. Sally Smith
    Address
    City, State, Zip
  • Use their names as of the time you send out invitations. They are not married now and you shouldn't refer to them as Mr & Mrs.
  • We had the same thing when I did the invites i did what emarston1 suggested. and when they sent the response back they were married and came back as mr& mrs

  • You address them the way that they are when you send the invitation which is as an engaged couple (thus going on separate lines with no and between).  If they are married at the time of your wedding, your escort cards would use their new designations (Mr. and Mrs. Smith).
    Married 10/2/10
  • Address them for how they are now.
