I am from New York (near Hudson Valley) and my fiancé is from Hudson, Wisconsin. We have decided to get married and live in Wisconsin. I LOVE it there!
We had already decided to have a blessing and a party here 4 weeks before the actual ceremony for the people who will not be able to make it out to WI. My mother is now insisting that we have the wedding in NY. She even went as far as saying that my father, my grandmother and her would not be able to attend our WI nuptials.
Has anyone been through this before? My fiancé suggested 2 small weddings but isn't the point of getting married bringing the families together? My mom dropped this bomb on my last night and eloping just gets more appealing by the second. Thanks!
