Evening thread?

Am I just not seeing it or has no one started one yet? Or is no one around?

Re: Evening thread?

  • I'm here!  I should be doing work...but I'm not.

We're going to go get dinner soon though.  Then I won't be here.  Because I'll be eating.  Not at home.

  • Haha - having  Mexican tonight J?
  • Wow Chrissy, that's impressive. Way to go!

I'm just catching up on all the threads I missed today.
  • Nope, I'm one of about 17 people in the world that don't give a crap about Cinco de Mayo OR the Derby.  We're going to our favorite burger place and hoping people aren't too drunk.

    Hi

DH, BIL and their HS friends who happen to live here are all out.  I just didn't feel like hearing all the reminiscing.   So Im just home with Chef D watching TBBT.  It's all good.

I'm so proud of him.  I went to McD's and Walgreens and did not lock him up.  I came home and he was sleeping on the chair (he is allowed up there).   I'm not going to leave him for hours, but it's nice to know I can leave for 20 minutes without the house being destroyed.

ETA - proud of Chef D that is.  I can leave DH at home alone without issue, well most of the time Tongue Out

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • J - I don't really care about it either. I mean, if someone is throwing a party and invites me over for free nachos and margaritas I'm not going to say no, but I will avoid mexican restaurants LIKE THE PLAGUE today. I hate crowds and avoid them whenever possible.

Lynda - It's always good when you can run a quick errand without putting the dog up. We let our dogs outside to go potty every time we take them out of the crate, so it really is a bit of a PITA if we're going to be gone for 15 minutes and we have to get them in the crate, then take them out when we get home.
  • Evening.  I meant to spend the evening finishing my last paper.  Instead, I marathoned SATC.  I'm nothing if not productive.

  • Hey guys, I just got to FI's. We're going to watch tv and drink wine, I think. Super exciting stuff, haha. I hate Mexican food so I had a hoagie for dinner.

  • I'm sure for a lot of dogs 6 months is too early.  Chef D is lazy though.  He likes sleeping on cushy stuff too much destroy them (ie he has NEVER ruined his beds or even tried to eat the couch.)  He is not too interested in cords either.

  • Way to be in the Cino de Mayo spirit Angel  : )

Bay - It's a Saturday night! Those aren't meant to be productive.

Have any of you guys tried the Godiva Mocha Liqueur? I had to go to the liquor store to pick up the Jack for my moms punch and saw one of those mini bottles of it for $3. It's mmmmm yummy.

Hi all! I just looked at these hilariously bad wedding photos : http://photos.ellen.warnerbros.com/galleries/bad_wedding_photos

I had a pretty lazy day today. Maybe I'll be more productive tomorrow.

  • I still can't trust Tory in the house alone for more than like 15 minutes and she is almost 2. And with the new pup coming next week, that will be another 2 years before the house will be safe for either dog, hah.

I love Godiva liqueur, although not the mocha kind. I don't like coffee. Are you getting excited for your shower tomorrow?!?

<div>Does he play much? And what kind of dog is he again?</div><div>
</div><div>From what I understand the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (the dog I reaaally want) is a lot like your dog in personality. I want a snuggler, not a hyper puppy haha. My uncle has one and he plays, but not very energetically. He enjoys his walks and is fairly calm most of the time. My uncle says that's common for his breed. He's also soooo soft. I really want one. A boy. So I can name him Albus!</div>
  • True, Poke!  But I only have a couple more days to get this done.  Tomorrow is going to be too busy -- I'm going to MA with friends for a fundraising event a friend of mine is organizing.  At least Monday night H won't be home so I'll have all the peace and quiet I need to buckle down and get this done.

  • My dog is hyper as shiit when she wants to be. But she's also the cuddliest dog I've ever met. I think a lab is a combination of the two since they are huge people pleaser dogs.

  • Raes - I saw those - they're hilarious.

Angel - I'm super excited! I still don't know what I'm going to wear. That reminds me, I need to try on my dresses to decide what to wear lol. I wish I could have gone shopping for a cute dress or something, but I really need to be cutting down my wardrobe - not adding more stuff to it. Whichever way I go I need to shave my legs tonight, all of my dresses come to the knee and it's going to be HOT tomorrow.

And did you guys know you're supposed to shave at night? Apparently your legs swell over night so you catch the hair at it's longest before you go to bed. That's what I read anyways - can't remember where.

  • poke - he is an english bulldog.  He LOVES to play with other dogs. He can/will plan all day given the chance.  If it's just humans around he will play fetch or tug-of-war for a little while, but mostly he likes to sleep.  Today was his 1/2 birthday.  We took him to doggie day care where he got to play for a long while, then got groomed.  So he is pretty beat right now.

  • Huh, interesting Poke. I'd never heard that. It makes sense since you are your heaviest at the end of the day as well. I shave my legs like once every month and a half so I never have trouble finding hair, haha.

Well, with the exception of june-august, then I shave like once every 2 weeks.

  • I did not know that, Poke. That's a good fact to know! I'm definitely going to get a new dress for my shower. It'll probably be a sweater dress since it'll be winter. I wish it was going to be in the summer!

I miss having a dog.  It's been quite a while.

I never realized the derby was suck a big thing. We have a horse track nearby, and I know that a lot of people head there on derby day, but I didn't think so many people were interested.

  • Well, I think I may have read it on a Yahoo! news article and they're not known to be particularly good fact checkers - so I'm usually more than willing to believe it when someone tells me it's wrong. I tend to shave my legs less often than a lot of other women because I don't wear shorts very often. Or even capris. Or dresses/skirts. It's generally jeans. But I do keep up with it a lot more when FI is here or I'm there, beause he's a big baby and whines when my legs are prickley. Yet he tells me to deal when his stubble hurts my face....

I shave almost everyday, even if I'm going to wear pants. I really dislike body hair.

  • I watched the Derby and was very entertained!

I used to wax my legs a lot so my hair grows back super fine and only in patches and not all over my legs. So it is easier to go much longer between shaves.

  • I watch the Derby ever year and yet I'm not sure how.  I don't make a point to watch it, but I always seem to be around a TV when it's on.  Same with the Westminster Dog show.  Could not tell you when it is, but I always seem to stumble on it on TV.

<div>Well, it's going to be a very laid back and casual shower. My Aunt is throwing a party in our honor after the wedding in New Orleans that is going to be a lot more formal so I'll use that opportunity to bug FI for a cute dress. </div>

Lynda - I love Westminster, but I couldn't tell you when it is. My papillon's father has been to Westminster.
