How do I list on the Wedding program my step mother, father deceased?

I am trying to figure out how to list my stepmother on the program.  All similiar situations had the parent still alive.  My father is deceased, but I am still close to my step mother and want to list her somehow.  My mother is still alive as well, so I need to be sure she gets top honor.  They will both be getting corsages.  Help!  Any suggestions would be helpful.

Re: How do I list on the Wedding program my step mother, father deceased?

  • Parents of the Bride:
    Ms. Bride's Mom
Mrs. Bride's Dad (example: Mrs. John Smith - if you use her married name it implies that she was married to your dad) or Mrs. Stepmom's Name

    or

    Mother of the Bride:
    Ms. Bride's Mom
    Stepmother of the Bride:
    Ms. Bride's Stepmom
  • I'm not super close to my stepmom (my dad died too) but didn't want to not include her and hurt her, so I'm asking her to be a reader. That way she'll get a corsage, be listed in the program under readers and be generally involved (i.e. invited to the rehearsal dinner etc) without hurting my own mom (who would never say anything but is awfully sensitive). Because you're close to yours though I would just list her in the program beneath your mom as leisel suggested.

  • I don't really have anything to add on the listing of the names.  I just wanted to let you know how awesome I think it is that you want to include your stepmom in your special day.  I literally teared up.  Your father and mother must be very proud of the woman they raised.
  • I agree with Bubbs, it is refreshing to hear someone wanting to include their stepparent.

I also think you can use PPs ideas of listing her as a stepmom.

I would also suggest to list your father in under the "dedication".  You could work it something like "On this special day in our lives, we lovingly remember Mr. Bob Smith, Father of the Bride."

  • Thank you for all your helpfull suggestions.  I am now wondering, the order they are listed on the program, is this the order they should be escorted in during the processional?
