Good morning, ladies!

Re: Good morning, ladies!

• Angel, I'm hoping for warm weather through October. It's August and I haven't been sailing once this year! Normally I've been out at least 4 times by now. It's so sad.
• Cali, I'll exchange with you, but only because you're in Austin! :)
• So, our 3 year anniversary is tomorrow (dating), and I'm torn whether or not we should celebrate it. We'll acknowledge it, but should we actually go out and do something (since we just got married three months ago)? Is that stupid that I'm overthinking this?

We got a GC to one of our favorite restaurants as a wedding present, so on our dating anniversary we had dinner out and treated ourselves. We didn't do anything else, just kept it low-key, but it's a good excuse (not that you ever need one!) for a date night.

I was debating this myself. Our dating anniversary is in October and originally I was going to retire the dating anniversary after we got married. But I'm a sucker for a reason to celebrate so I was thinking of doing something small. Like making H something for dinner that I don't normally make, like steak or pot roast or something. Maybe crack open a fancy bottle of wine. The trick is convincing H to get me some fancy chocolate or something in exchange.

Does that happen in NC? October is pretty much always cool here. There might be a random warm day or two, but it's generally not sailing weather! I love boats, it's been too long since I've been on one.

Ditto! You could also stay home and have a nice dinner on your fancy china (if you have any). We plan on celebrating our dating, engagement and wedding anniversaries with at least a little something.
• I think it's cute to still do little things for the dating anniversary. One of the moms I work for announced a couple weeks ago that on that date ten years earlier they'd gone on their first date. I thought it was so sweet that she remembered the exact date.
• Crap, I don't even remember our 'dating' anniversary. lol! But I think it would be fun to just either go out to eat, OR just when you have dinner, turn the lights out and light some candles. That's a nice, special thing to do maybe.

It does happen in NC. You can see people wearing shorts here straight through the winter. You won't catch me doing it but it happens. If we go sailing in October we bring jackets because it's cooler on the water but it's still fun.

• Thanks y'all! I do have a GC to Buca di Beppo (family style Italian), so I think that's what we'll do. That way, we're not spending to much money, but still going out. After this one, we'll probably only celebrate our actual marriage date.

I can not wait for college football to start! Only 34 days left until my favorite time of year!

I wear flip flops year round. I think that is a truly southern thing. I even wore them when we went to PA to visit our friends over New Years last year and everyone looked at me like I was insane. I don't think I own any cold weather shoes though.
• Good morning!
July was awesome for us! Wedding, honeymoon, and we just got our offer on a house accepted
August is going to be fun besides packing up our apartment. We'll actually be able to enjoy the weekends and maybe do some boating.

I think we are planning to go to Cedar Point one weekend in August too.

We have one of those here too. For some reason, I thought it was just a local place! I've always wanted to go, I assume you've been and enjoy it?
• Morning everyone.

I have been to the gym and grocery store so far today. Now I'm going to catch up on some of my shows so I can make sure I have enough DVR space to record the Olympics.

OMG, I love that place! We go probably once a month. It's more fun with a big group of people (one entree feeds 3-4), so you can try a bunch of different stuff. H and I however, do not share when we go, so everytime the wait staff looks at us like we are crazy for ordering two entrees and an appetizer. Hey, we like leftovers! I always get the spicy chicken rigatoni and H gets the spaghetti and meatballs. I've had other things, but always fall back to my usual.
• Buca di Beppo - We have one near us. We went once for lunch and I liked it a lot. They have smaller portions of some items for lunch that feed just 2 if I remember correctly. Hmmm, I need to go back.

The food is actually really good and I like family style because you can order a bunch of stuff and have leftovers. I don't know about yours but the one here is sectioned off into different rooms and large parties can reserve whole sections. The creepiest room by far is the pope room; there is a big bust of the pope sitting on a lazy susan in the middle of the table and he stares at you while you eat.

I haven't been back there since Maggiano's opened here though. Maggiano's has the best eggplant parmesan I have ever eaten. And they give you a whole other meal to take home if you order off the classics menu. Dammit, now I want Maggiano's.

• Calix, why do you keep mentioning my favorite restaurants? I love Italian food and Maggiano's is my favorite restaurant. Now I want to go, too.

• MMM Buca di Beppo. Yum. The food is good but the place overwhelms me sometimes. I saw a dude dressed as Clifford the Big Red Dog there once and I felt like I was in a strange Italian food-filled circus.

• Yall, I just found out this morning that one of my friends has cancer but doesn't want many people to know. So her bff goes and tells a handful of people and he wants me to shoot this friend a text just asking how she's doing. I feel like that will make it obvious that I know though. I am not pleased with the situation I am in. AND I feel awful because I really want to do something nice for her but she's two states away and I'm not even supposed to know she has cancer.
• Sorry Aryn, that was a shitty place for your friend to put you in!

I'm sorry Dino. I would feel awkward too. How often do you talk or text this friend?

Edit - name change, I can't keep it straight.

That is a tough one and i am so sorry for you and your friend. I understand not wanting to tell people, it's an emotional conversation and talking about it makes it way more scary and real. However, your friend is going to need all the support she can get very shortly. Depending on her treatment, she may needs rides to the hospital, food runs, and just overall emotional support. I think you should send her a good old-fashioned card. Say that you want to respect her wishes and you hope that she doesn't get mad at her BFF but that you know what the situation is. And that she has your support if needed. Then she can choose to respond or not.

• Crap Aryn. Maybe wait a day or two and call? Or how do you normally contact her? Just keep it in that style. Just try to get to a point where you aren't 'thinking' about stuff to say and it won't read as awkward maybe?

• I don't even remember our dating anniversary. Really, it would be our started sleeping together anniversary. We kind of skipped the dating thing.

That's shitty, Glo. I'd probably wait for her to tell you herself, or wait until it's a little more public.

• Cali, apparently she's had it for awhile and already had surgeries to remove the tumor. I just talked to her a couple days ago because she's the one I'm planning the Savannah trip with. We usually only talk every couple of weeks so I'll wait a couple days like Snippy said before reaching out to her. I think her BFF just wanted her to have more support, he's a good guy and really cares about her.
