bridesmaid luncheon etiquette?

My brother is getting married in a month and my FSIL is having a bridesmaid luncheon.  This is not common in my circle so I have no idea what the etiquette is.  Am I expected to bring a gift for her like I would at a shower or do I just need to show up with a smile?

Is it etiquette for someone in grooms family to have the bridesmaid luncheon.\? I have always thought it was the mob and bride who planned luncheon.

If friends of the bride are hosting the bridesmaids luncheon, should the bride give them a gift as a thank you for hosting, as well as gifts to her bridesmaids?
