What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

  • oot that's just not acceptable. Though the "deliveries stop at 10" part has me intrigued. You can get wine delivered to you? (Sorry if this is an insane question. 3 glasses of vodka and 4 glasses of rum have me feeling brave.)

I'll have to show this list to FI. It's really his rum I'm drinking since I'm out of my mandarin vodka. Sounds yummy though!

  • I want to hang out at Lynda's house.  Yum, rum.

Oot, if there was a way for me to get wine to you, I would.  Keeping wine stocked in the house is my top priority.

Precious. I had a baby with a cleft lip and palate when I was doing OB clinicals and he was the most beautiful little guy I'd see. I never wanted to leave his side. He was right next to the viewing glass until some family members overheard some ignorant a$$e$ talking about him and asked to move him so people wouldn't pick on him. Made me want to go punch somebody's face in. I'll say some prayers for you and DH for the surgeries. He won't remember anything ever being wrong, but obviously you two will. Be sure to post pictures at some point. I'd love to see him. :0)

  • Vanilla rum and root beer= root beer float
  • This is how I'm relaxing right now. Roxy likes curling up as close to my belly as possible.

  • Oh trust me the ladies here would kill me if I didn't post pictures. They have been waiting 6 months to see him.

  • Yes photos of little Edmund is a must! :)
    image
  • Well, I wouldn't kill you, Ciara.  It'd be cruel to make Edmund an orphan.  I'll just be sorely disappointed.
  • I heard of animals being protective during pregnancy. I offered to take a friend's dog out when she was on bed rest and the dog wouldn't leave her side.

  • My cats have definitely been by my side since I have been on bed rest. If I am lounging on the couch they are normally asleep on my legs or curled up on my lap like Roxy was.

My ILs are all worried about them hurting Edmund and told us that we needed to get rid of them before he got here. They aren't going to be a probelm. I can see already that I think Edmund and Roxy are going to get along just fine. Sophie will take a little more warming up to the new addition but eventually she will come around.

  • I never got why people say you have to get rid of the animals. Animals will get use to the situation and love the baby like you love the baby. It might take them a bit getting use to, but they will come around.
One of my cats, Hailey, hates my dad. She hisses every time he comes around and if I am on the phone and I say, "Dad'. Very strange.
  • When I was a baby I had cats that slept in the crib with me. I guess with cats there is an old wives tail that the cat would smother the newborn. They are instead attracted to the smell of milk. They were here first and they aren't going anywhere. Everyone will get along at some point.

  • I like your attitude. I could never part with my dogs no matter who came into my life. One of them is really bad with children initially, but once he spends some time around them on a leash he chills out. FI's daughter comes over now with no problems. Just took some adgusting on the dogs part. He was beaten nearly to death by children before his owner surrendered him to the shelter. I figure if I were him I wouldn't be comfortable around children either.

    Yes

Almost all stores deliever almot anything.  I love that about NYC.  But my wine store doesn't deliver after 10 PM
  • My cats have only ever been around DH and I really. There are a couple people that they see every once in a while but its mostly just us. The first set of kids they were around tormented them every time they came over. They wouldn't come out from behind the mattress for fear of being carted around by their necks.

  • Oh I would get in so much trouble there then. The only things that deliver in this place are pizza and Chinese. I can't imagine I'd ever have money if people could just bring me vodka when I wanted.

  • Oot --
This is a post and run, but I wanted to tell you that I was thinking about you when I went to confession today.  I confessed what ac would call a bunch of mortal sins, and I swear the priest looked like he wanted to snort with derision.  Apparently forgetting it was Friday one morning and eating meat and missing a couple of Sunday Masses wasn't enough for him to consider me on the brink of hell.  He told me that I should accept the love and wonder of Jesus and stop worrying about the rules.  I was positively giggling as I said my prayers afterwards (I actually doubled what he prescribed only because I couldn't believe I got off so easily).
  • Love Jimmy Johns. My sister freaked out when went there after her bach party and I walked under the counter to go to the restroom. She yelled at me and said some not nice things. The guys working just laughed. It was her first time at JJ.

    haha

Joe refuses to abstain on Fridays on principle alone.  He said the rule came out only to aid the fishing industry a couple of centuries back.  He's probably the most observant Catholic I know.  ac would sh!!t at that one :)

Fi and I have both stopped abstaining on Fridays as well.  I've been asking my mother for years how that rule came to be, and she always says "because its what we do"  When I can get her to give me an actual answer I will consider it.
