Private student loans?

Anyone have any experience use private loans for school?

What's the best one to use (as far as interest rates and stuff go)?

I dont have any private loans because mine went through the school / government, but Im interested to see what the responses are.

I believe my interest rate is at 3%, maybe a little lower. Thankfully it's also fixed.

I'm trying to take 9 credit hours this summer so I can graduate on time and I got an email from the school telling my my stafford loans won't cover summer so I'm trying to find an alternative.

oh ouch. Yeah, I think for those you have to be full time?
Maybe check with your bank and see if they have any recommendations.
I'm taking 7 hours over the summer (hopefully I'll survive, I've never taken summer courses). Thankfully there was enough left over from the fall and spring loans to cover the summer, otherwise I'd probably be in the same position.

    Good Luck!

I would try going to your financial aid office to see what's available. I was told my stafford loans wouldn't cover summer but when I went to the office they were able to offer me another type of government loan. I don't remember the name of it though.

Check to see if you qualify for Pell, they're available for Summer.  I don't know anything about private loans, sorry.

I've used Sallie Mae and Wells Fargo. Make sure you read the fine print and find out if its a deferred loan and if you have to make payments on interest while in school. Good luck.
