UK Brides, please help!

Hi, what did you have to do to get your marriage recorded in the UK? I've started looking into it and getting really confused. I've read that the marriage can't be registered in the UK but can be recorded and to do this the marriage certificate needs to be posted to the British Embassy in Los Angeles and we need to get in touch with the General Register Office in the UK.
Is this what you had to do? Please help!! Thanks xx

From what I can read you do not need to register as the US marriage is already considered a legal marraige! They will record your marriage certificate if you want which may be good in case you lose it and to get it on the BMDUK statistics stuff! It is the same thing for me here in Australia. The one thing I can not do is change my name....to do that I have to change my name legally like if i was changing my first name which sucks!

I also forgot to mention I am going to get the apostille as well. I am pretty sure that I dont need one but I figure i may as well get it now in case they chnage the rules!
