Venue wont all food tasting? Normal?

We recently book our venue in Las Vegas NV, and it happens to be a "Best of" pick of The Knot. Its a off strip venue that handles almost everything.  But they will not allow us a food tasting. I am puzzled over this matter. I do not like serving my 200 guests something I have not tried. Is this normal? From others I am here fun, its not. Any advise?

    Weird....mine gave us the option of tasting... Maybe ask why?

    Before we decided to get married in Vegas we were checking out this country club where we live. They did this same thing saying they didn't do tastings but that we could speak to their managers who have all tried the food to ask just how good it is. I want to know for myself as everyone has different tastes of what's good and what's not. I did question why they don't do tastings seeing that was a first I had heard of this and she said because the kitchen was off site and they only cook to prepare it for the event.

    Just an FYI, 'best of' on the knot just means they paid money.  Kind of like Oprah's "favorites" each year; you pay to play.  Hell, one of the vendors (venue) TK used to list as a 'best of' for Vegas was shut down by the health department for months before the listing was finally removed.

    I wouldn't trust any venue that won't let you do a tasting.

    Griffin Mansion.  They were still accepting deposits for months after being shut down and now there are numerous lawsuits against the prior owners.  It took TK more than two months of me complaining to them to actually remove the 'best of' listing.
