Vendors

Hi ladies!  This board is always so slow and I know a lot of girls look here for recs on vendors, so what do you think about sharing yours?

Mine are:
-My dress, tuxes, and MOB dress: Storybook Ending (DeWitt)

-BM dresses: a designer in Chicago (Jenny Yoo)

-Venue:  Davenport Country Club (outdoor ceremony and indoor reception)

-Florist:  Staacks

-DJ:  RexRoat Sound

-Cake:  Joanne Cunningham/Cunningham Confectioner (Eldridge, IA)

-Photography:  Creative Wedding Package (Bettendorf, IA)

-Day-of Coordinator:  Sara Johnson

-Invites:  I made myself but used bklynstitch on etsy.com to design and print

-Transportation:  Act II Transportation

-Ceremony music:  Susan McPeters (on piano/keyboard)

-Hotels:  Stoney Creek Inn (having rehearsal dinner here) & Isle Casino Hotel (Fi&I are staying here, having a post-wedding brunch here)

That's about all I can think of!

    Great idea!!

    Date: June 12, 2010

    Mine are:

-Dresses: Heart to Heart Bridal in North Liberty (terrible customer service, ordered the wrong bridesmaid dresses, dresses arrived late, the list goes on…DO NOT SHOP THERE)

-Venue: Ceremony = St. John Vianney in Bettendorf & Reception = Davenport Country Club

-Florist: Greenthumbers in Davenport (they were AMAZING!!! I didn’t have a huge flower budget, but they went above and beyond anything I had even imagined)

-Cake: Wedding Cake: Olde Towne Bakery in Moline (I really loved my cake, it turned out exactly as I had planned and asked. They didn’t have a ton of flavors to choose from but the lemon cake was delicious) Groom’s Cake = Chunkie’s Cookies & Specialty Cakes by Jenny Boxler in Bettendorf (she made a rugby themed cake that was ridiculously delicious and extremely cute. I would definitely recommend her to anyone on their wedding day)

-Photography: Mark’s Place in Eldridge (We had a team of 3 photographers with us the whole day and I really like how our photos turned out)

-Planner & Coordinator: Kristin Landrum (AMAZING, don’t think my day could have come together without her. HIGHLY recommend using her)

-Invites & Paper Products: I designed them with graphic designer Jenna Kollings in Des Moines, and made them myself. (She was wonderful to work with and the design process was so much fun. She’s also extremely affordable)

-Transportation: We used a friend. It was free J

-Ceremony Music: Pianist = Becky Seward of Bettendorf & Vocalist = Gerard Butler of Des Moines

-Hotels: Holiday Inn in Bettendorf (Groom’s family), Hampton Inn in Davenport (Bride’s Family & Friends), Jumers Casino in Rock Island (Bride & Groom)

-Rehearsal Dinner: The Blackwatch Room at Pebble Creek in LeClaire (they have a separate banquet room overlooking the golf course which is absolutely breathtaking at sunset, plus the food was outstanding)

-DJ: Mix CD Productions (Played a lot of really fun music and I heard everything I wanted to and nothing I didn’t)

I think that’s it. I have pictures and contact information for anyone that’s interested

I typed all mine out and then my computer went crazy...so in stead of retyping...

Have you had any issues with Joanne Cunningham?? I paid her $100 deposit back in January called her three times around June/July and never received a return call, so I decided to go with my caterer, which is also going to save me about $400.

Ljahns - wow! It's great to come across another DCC user!  Do you have any pics of the decor from your reception?  How is Anne "in action"?

Boynton - I'll admit, she's kind of loopy.  I set up a tasting with her about 6 wks in advance of when I wanted to come in.  So we went, she showed us pics, went over flavors, etc...and we were never offered a sample of cake!! So when we left, I said I was interested in using her as a vendor, but wouldn't feel comfortable signing a contract without having a sample.  She asked what we'd like to try and make us a small cake that night.  The next day when my mom met her to pick it up, Joanne apologized and said that she had thought we had previously met at a bridal fair and had assumed I'd tried her cake...uh no.

But, the sample (pink champagne) was delicious, so we decided to use her.  I'm not sure where else you've looked, but her bid was actually the cheapest out of everyone I visited (Old Town, Perian Webb and Heller).

Since the deposit, I've contacted her via email...some times she responds the same day and sometimes it's more like a week.

I'm so sorry you've had difficulty with her!
