Mother of Bride dresses?

My mom has been searching all over, and we cannot seem to find the dress she's looking for for my wedding. We've done David's Bridal, Macy's, Madeline's Daughter, and tons of shops in the Old Port/Portsmouth. Online seems like the last resort, but she doesn't feel comfortable ordering a dress online.

It is prom season, so I'm hoping inventory might change in the next few weeks. My mom is a younger mom (50), so she doesn't want the matronly, sparkly dress with jacket. She can pull off something younger.  Any suggestions as to where else we should look?

My mom is the same, and she bought a lot of stuff online but ended up having to mail a lot back. But she found dresses she liked at Macy's and JC Penney, online and in stores. She's going to wear one to the RD and one to the wedding. Since our wedding is outside and casual, the dresses are shorter (knee length) and more cocktail party than formal wedding. But they look great!

If I can find pics of what she bought later, I'll post them.

Okay, here is the dress she's wearing to the wedding, but she has it in purple:

My Mom found hers at Dress Barn after failing at way too many stores. Its pathetic the lack of style dresses have.

My mom is in the same boat she will only be 38 at our wedding and said she wouldn't be caught dead in most of the dresses we've seen.  We still have plenty of time, but I think she will end up going with more of a spring/summer dress look but still somewhat elegant so my fathers tux doesn't make her look too casual.

Why not have her try bridemaids dress.  My mother found a dress at Andrea's in Portland, it is  the one in the middle in black.  http://www.impressionbridal.com/collections.php?s=1629&cat=23
Also, you can go to the same website: http://www.impressionbridal.com/collections.php?cat=33&p=1
this is under the collection la perle section, which is the mother of bride series, have her pick out something she likes and then call bill and bobs in newington, nh, they carry that series so they may have it.  Good luck

Thanks everyone! She did try on some bridesmaid dresses, but wasn't feeling any of them. We're going to keep checking back at Macy's, because they said they should be getting more summer dresses in soon. I'm sure we'll find something!

My mother just ordered hers from Formal Image in Lewiston. Its a tiny little shop but has TONS of dresses. She ended up going with seperates that were very classy looking and not too frumpy. Its worth a look....
