What inspired you for your wedding

Getting slow again, So...

What inspired your theme (colors, venue ,Location, etc)? What made you and your beau pick these things. A movie, song, vacation memory?

Our wedding will be in AZ. Both honey and I are in entertainment and met on the road. More specificly, we met backstage at a theatre in Mesa, AZ. We both love to travel and most of our firsts were in different cities around the country. So we are going for a travel theme and will highlight some of the different cities in which we had a fond memory. Our wedding is also a destination wedding.

Our colors are partly inspired by a birds of paradise flower (orange and purple).  Plus I got to choose them so I went bright and bubbly to fit my personality. Honey didnt care. I'm not a huge flower person so we will probably use a minimal ammount of flower and just add more colorful linen and lighting.

My FI and I are both boaters, and big time beach people, so our wedding had to be on/around the water.  We also love traveling to beach locations, so having a tropical theme just seemed natural.  The tropical florals gave us the direction for the colors - and it all just fell into place.

My primary focus has been on the food.  I'm a foodie (used to be a caterer), so I wanted to make sure that the food represented the theme as well. Therefore I was also be bring in both local seafood selections, as well as incorporate tropical dishes.  Yum!

My FI and I share a love for sports.  That was the inspiration for the colors...scarlet, grey and black (a mashup of our favorite college sports teams, Ohio State and Cincinnati).  Also, we plan to give our tables names instead of numbers, in particular, names of our favorite sports figures.

Our faith..we chose Plum and Silver as our main colors...representing royalty of biblical times.  Purple was the color of royalty and silver of wealth, in the natural lifetime of Jesus Christ.  Our reception venue is where we had our first dinner date.  Our Ketubah (Song of Songs/Solomon-in the Bible) is the deepest true love story of all time, which we will sign as a declaration of our love and faith.

I have sapphires as the side stones in my engagement ring and things sort of took off from there...our colors are sapphire blue, lilac, and silver.

I knew I absolutely wanted orchids in my bouquet. Then it moved on to I want tropical flowers everywhere and it then escalated to a ''tropical island theme''.  The only thing is really the flowers, the table names and the escort cards have little palm trees on them.

The colors, I initially wanted fuschia and olive green.  My MOh had made the comment that she wanted her dress that color so I chose in consequence.  Well we went shopping for dresses and it turns out that the colors are now emerald green, turquoise and purple!  I like it so much more!

The fall inspired me. Fall is so beautiful in NY. I loved the concept of including plum purple against a Fall NYC backdrop.

My wedding is inspired by the city. I grew up in Hartford, CT so we wanted a wedding that was very urban and chic. Hence our theme city chic. Plus we both love NYC. Our venue is in the heart of Hartford and is very metropolitan.

Since we haven't set a date yet because we're not sure how long it'll take us to get the money, it has given me plenty of time to pick up and drop ideas.

The first idea I had was based off of my engagement ring, which was amethyst and silver. I was going to have a tinge of Japanese design in everything, but overall it was going to be casual and fun.

The one I'm thinking on now is comics. My fiance and I are avid nerds (in just about every way you can think of, evenly divided between the two of us) and have large comic book collections. I want to focus on vintage/older comics, giving the wedding a sort of retro feeling.

It's still going to be very laid back, because neither of us are into that fancy formal stuff.

The Springtime inspired my wedding. I love spring and how it symbolizes growth and a new beginning. (That's a bit cliche but oh well.) Our colors aren't Spring colors but they're colors that we both like a lot.
