Does matching matter?

I def started as a bride who really wanted all matching paper. I found a save the date design on vistaprint I loved and my cards were beautiful. I ordered the matching invites though and hate them (only ordered 10 to see so no major investment made). The invitation itself is so large and the design is not as cute in that large size. Can I just say whatever and find any other design or should I still try to coordinate my invite choice to the save the dates somehow?

Why not just order them in a smaller size?  Which design are you looking at?

I found a diy template on etsy earlier that I like too that makes black and white polka dots invites and I could tie them with thin ribbon in purple pink yellow and orange to match our colors and match the std's

IMHO, I don't believe that your invites need to match your save-the-dates. Ours won't (mostly because we're doing it DIY and because I like variety), and my cousin's didn't either. I definitely did not think, "Geez, those invites don't match the save-the-dates!" LOL. I think if you really like the polka-dot invites (they're very cute) then just go for it. Tying in the ribbon colors to match the save-the-dates is a great idea!

Email customer service.  They are EXTREMELY helpful.  I'm 90% positive that if you tell them the specific design you need in the smaller size, they'll make it for you.

I just searched through their flat 5.5x4 invites, and I see that design FIVE times.  It's horizontal and not vertical, but it's the same flower and swirl design.

I don't think I've ever seen an STD that matched the invitations.  They're usually a different and much more casual design.

FWIW, my invites no where NEAR matched my invites.

I'm also super picky about my paper and want it all to match...but the only thing similar between my STDs and invites is the 'swirls' on the text panels, and the color. I'm using a VP large magnet STD but making pocketfolds for my invites. I think tying it together with color is enough...STDs are allowed to not match, even if everything else does

No problem!  But like I said, if you want the vertical version, just email customer service.  They're so nice.
