Blended Family Addressing

Ok ladies - I'm in the process of collecting addresses for everyone, and putting them into a template as I get them.  Anyway, how would you address this situation of an engaged couple with kids of both last names:

Jane Doe (My Sister)
John Smith (Sis' Fiance)
Kate Doe (Sis' child)
Jack Smith (FI child)
Steve Smith (FI child)

Thanks!

Re: Blended Family Addressing

  • are the couple living together and do their children live in the same household? if not, then they have separate addresses.

if they are living together, I'd address it as "John Smith and Jane Doe and Family" then the address on the outer envelope. inner envelope (if you're doing one) will simply list them by the names that you refer to them as:
    John and Jane
    Kate, Jack and Steve

  • Thanks!  That sounds good putting "and family" since they do all live together.

    Thanks again for your help
  • PP's suggestion is "easy" but not correct from an etiquette standpoint.

    It would be:

    Outer -
    Ms. Jane Doe
    Mr. John Smith

    Inner-
    Ms. Doe
    Mr. Smith
Katherine, Jackson, Steven (use full  names and appropriate spelling)

Writing "and family" is not considered proper etiquette but some don't particularly care about that rule.
