Re: QOTD 5/29

  • I keep going back and forth on it. Most of our guests are from here and more than likely wouldn't get hotel rooms except for a few that live 3-4 hours north of here. Even if those people were to get hotel rooms, it wouldn't equal the 10-15 rooms that hotels usually like you to block.

  • Already did. We will need most of the hotel rooms in town. Thankfully there are 3!

  • We will most likely be reserving hotel blocks.  A big chunk of our guest list is from out of town and will need a place to stay overnight.  We're still unsure of how to go about doing this and when to start booking.

We are. Many of our guests have experessed the want for them actually. I think we are up to 10 rooms already. We are going far from where we live, but I don't want anyone takin the chance and drinking and driving.

jmcjdw13 - The hotel I emailed told me to start looking around October-Novemeber.

  • I'm still not sure.  Everyone from my part of the guest list will be coming from less than an hour away.  His side has more of a drive, but had mentioned renting a lake house that's a few minutes' drive to the wedding location.  But he does have other family that may have to stay in a hotel, so I'm not sure what to do yet.

  • I am. FI's family is 45- an hour away and my family is a half hour.
I was talking with my family about how the hotel down the street shuttles to the venue and back and they all loved that. A lot of them said they would love to get a hotel room for the night so that they can enjoy themselves and not have to worry about driving.

  • I wanted too but it would cost almost another 2000 unless I misunderstood her we only have maybe 8 OOT an there more than welcome to my house. The other hotels in area are cheap and within 5 min driving distance.
  • I dont think we will book a hotel block per se. Approximately 1/4 of our guest list are from OOT but have family that they normally stay with. However, we will be booking a couple rooms for me and FI and our parents to stay close to the ceremony location the night before and probably the day of so we dont have to run around that weekend.

  • Yes but the place I want to go to doesn't do it until 6 months before and has a limit on the number of rooms so I need to research other places.

  • We will be blocking rooms. With our reception hall if we have 20 rooms at the one hotel filled we get a free shuttle and betweeen family and friends who even live 1/2 to 45 mins away they will be staying over night to keep partying after.. No drinking and driving here

I'm probably getting two at different price points.  Also i'm going to try and arrange couch space for our college and high school friends who are coming out of town.  The vast majority of our guest list is out of tome...just our local friends from the past 4 years are near by.

  • Our reception venue is at a hotel, so they are included in our package. Most of our guests are in town but that wont stop people from staying the night!

  • We reserved room blocks at two different hotels, two different prices points as well. The hotels said we can add more rooms to the block as they fill up, which is nice.
  • I'm going to and I actually need to look in to it soon. Our wedding is downtown and the hotels for this summer were already completely booked by March. If anyone wants to stay there, I'm going to have to block them off. About half our guests are coming from out of town.

  • Yes, we are expecting quite a few OOT guests. Our reception venue runs a free shuttle to the hotel (which is 2 miles away), so that will be nice for the non-sober guests.

  • We aren't because even though we have OOT guests, our wedding is on a Sunday and everyone needs to go to work the next day. Luckily, our wedding will only be until 9:30 p.m so everyone can just drive home and go to sleep.

  • We already did.  90% of our guests will stay over that night most likely.  There is really only hotel near the venue, so they do room blocks very far in advance.

  • Yes.  We will block a few rooms...just in case!
  • I don't have to. Everyone invited lives here in town.
