My Sister. Matron of Honor. Is Pregnant.!

She's due in February. I'm so happy for her and her husband cuz they've been trying for so long. Now I'm trying to figure out how to fit her for her dress. Cuz by the time we go shopping for them, her tummy will be out. We could go off of her size now, but who knows how she will be after the baby. Any advice.??

  • She'll only be 1 month PP probably... She'll still be semi big unless she's one of those magical pregnancy unicorns that loses it super fast. I was thin before my first pregnancy and it still took me a year to lose it all. LOL.
Fitting is probably going to be really difficult :(
I'd say get her fitted halfway through the pgcy, and assum that's what she'll be back down to... then be prepared to alter.

    Congrats to her tho!

  • I'd consider going with a flowy dress, like maybe use chiffon rather than satin.  That's what I'm doing with my BM since I have such a range of sizes.  A one shoulder, flowy chiffon, knee-length dress in your color could possibly hide any extra weight she still has after the baby.  And I agree with pp, have her fitted in the middle of the pregnancy and hope she's still around that size 1 month pp.

  • Order larger than you think you're going to need. If she doesn't lose the weight immediately (and she probably won't) it'll be a lot harder to let out a dress than to pull it in. And I second having a loose-fitting, flowy dress (and don't forget those boobs will be huge). Even if it isn't what you'd normally like for your BMs, you can get a different dress for her since she's your MOH.

  • lose and flowy is the way to go and yes have her try on when she is about 6-7mths becaues that will be a little more realistic and she can always take it in. But the boobs will need their room. :) Congrats to your sis

My sister/moh is preggo too, as well as a bm. I've decided to just let everyone choose their own dresses within limitations. I really don't want a headache and I'd hate to buy dresses in a certain size and then they not fit, regardless of alterations.
