Where to honeymoon in September? Travel agent?

We are getting married in September, and wanted to go away for two weeks. Given its hurricane season, i think the caribean is out right? Any ideas for a place where we can relax on the beach, do excursions if we want, and get pampered? We were looking at fiji/tahiti but really are open to anything. Specifics would be great.
Also, did you use a travel agent? Any recommendations (either in CT or MA)?
THanks!

  • What is your budget? That will be the biggest factor. If your budget can only get you to the Caribbean, then I say it's fine and just buy insurance in the rare chance that something comes up. Also, picking a travel agent should be based on the destination you choose. You want a Tahiti specialist for Tahiti and a Fiji specialist for Fiji. Also, not sure if you are aware, but you can't do both Fiji and Tahiti in the same trip and are two totally different places.

  • Yes, what is your budget? Fiji/Tahiti are in a totally different price point than the Caribbean.

FWIW, you CAN do the Caribbean in hurricane season; just get trip insurance, which is something I'd recommend for any vacation where you are spending thousands of dollars. The chance of a hurrican is actually pretty small and you will be covered with insurance.

Another option is Hawaii. We loved it when we HMed there and they have pretty great weather year-round. Tons to do there and you could even do a couple different islands.

  • Let us know your budget! That will help a ton.
We went to Mexico in September a few years ago and it was amazing. It was gorgeous and not busy and pretty much amazing. It was very affordable too.

  • ABCs are Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao.
Hawaii's hurricane season goes until October 15th.

no you should not avoid the caribbean just b/c it's hurricane season. get yourself trip insurance, know what your hotel and airlines policies are as far as hurricanes and go.
