Impatiently waiting...

...for my boyfriends' boss to approve his vacation time so we can go on a cruise in June.

Probably not what you were thinking this was going to be about, huh?  Innocent

I finally got my vacation approved, the cruise is June 9th, and I can't BOOK anything until his vacation is approved.  So annoying...

That's the worst.  My boss is really quick and pretty lenient with approving vacations, but BF's is not at all and it drives me nuts.  It took BF's boss so long to get back to him about the  last trip we took to see my family that we had to book the flights before he got an answer and he had to offer to work from home...which they actually made him do.<div>

    Booked the cruise today!  Yeah!!!

I'm just bummed that the prices went up overnight and I refuse to pay the extra money for the balcony over the ocean view.  Soooo, we are going to be "stuck" down on deck 2.  Oh well, itwill make getting on and off the ship much easier way down there.  :)

    Nice!

Where is your cruise going? Have you been on a cruise before?

</div><div>This will be my 5th cruise but BF's first.  I've never been to Labadee or Cozumel before so a new ship and two new ports for me.</div><div>
</div><div>I've had my eye on this cruise for awhile so I have our excursions planned out and now I am trying to get everything booked.  I don't think I will have any issues, most of the ports we will be the only ship docked, so everything should have lots of space for us.  </div><div>

OP sounds like the cruise is going to be fun! My BF has the same problem with requesting PTO it's always last minute whereas my job we usually figure out PTO for the year in January and if we have to add anything last minute our boss approves it.

You'll have a blast in Cozumel. I fell in love with that area when I went on a cruise a few years ago. We took a ferry from Cozumel to Playa Del Carmen. It's so nice there. We go to Riviera Maya every year in June now.

My friend just got a really good deal on bookit for her hotel in Miami if you're leaving from that cruise port. She's leaving Sunday for a cruise and ended up getting a hotel on Ocean Drive for next to nothing.

Awesome! Is your BF nervous? FI and I went on a cruise 2 years ago, first time for both of us, and I was really nervous. I had a blast and all the things I was nervous about seem silly to me now.

Are you going to go to Stingray City while you're in GC?

</div><div>We are leaving from Port Canaveral (Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach).  I think we are going to swim with the dolphins in Cozumel, I've done it before but he hasn't.  If we don't do that I think we are going to head to Paradise Beach or an AI for the day.

    That's my only requirement too!

He still hasn't applied for his passport? I would get him on that ASAP! Depending on the time of year it could take a few weeks to process. Sometimes other passport offices push the paperwork a lot faster than other; see if there's one around you.

<div>I'm pretty annoyed about it.  We are going to apply for his EXPIDITED passport on Friday, Saturday at the latest.  Our backup will be is Birth Certificate and Drivers License (a passport is not <em>required</em> for this cruise, but I know it is better to have one just in case).  I already have mine.</div>

I was wondering for a second if the rules changed. I haven't been on a cruise since 2008 and I remember it wasn't mandatory to have a passport. But you're right it's good to have.
