Wedding stress - I just broke down into tears

Only because my FI's best man decided to be a d*ck about the timeline I emailed out. Questioning every choice I'd made and put into place and arguing every little detail.

He had volunteered to help decorate. My whole stinking family will be there to help so the worst he'll have to do is drape a table with tablecloths. And he's literally throwing a hissy fit about it. I just want to reply, then don't do it! My FI know's exactly what needs to be done, your only obligation is to show up and stand with him at 4pm, other than that.... do whatever you want.

I don't know I guess i feel like he's not being understanding at all, especially considering he just went through this with his own wedding 6 months ago. You'd think he'd realize how annoying being nitpicky this close to the date is for the bride.

I'm putting out decorations for the ceremony in my thricedamned wedding dress, the least he can do is drape a tablecloth. Geez.

  • Ok, first grab the closest soft item (pillow preferably) and just scream into it. Pretend it's him and punch it. When you get that out of your system you'll feel calmer.

If you already have people helping you out I don't see any reason why you can't just let him know his assistance is no longer required. Don't let him ruin your day. He had his 6 months ago, now it's your and your FI's day. Can you have your FI talk to him and try to straighten things out?

Yep, told the FI to handle it. He's going to talk to him. I was just really surprised that it was this that made me snap Tongue Out

  • Yesterday, my fiance attempted, for some bizzare reason, to cut his own hair...and ended up buzzing his head. He's not a hair stylist, so I'm not sure what that thought process consisted of. Needless to say, I teared up alittle when he texted me a picture, sans hair. Perfect. 3 weeks until the wedding.

Don't let these little things stress you out. Try to have fun with the little bit of planning you have left and enjoy the last weeks of being engaged :)
  • I don't think it was the BM that made you lose it.  It was probably a combination of a lot of little things.  I had this conversation with someone today after yet ANOTHER screw-up by The Men's Wearhouse.  (I realized they had given FI a red pocket square when our colors are sky blue and yellow.)  I don't care about the pocket square.  Ordinarily, I would have laughed, pulled it out and put a piece of toilet paper in there and made a $20 bet with him as to how long it would take someone to notice it.  But the pocket square on top of all the family drama on top of my migraines on top of the wedding coordinator being a d-bag on top of dd scuffing her shoes on top of the linen place sending green overlays instead of blue - it just all adds up.  One by one, none of them are a big dea.  When you add them all together..... eventually, one of them is going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Hopefully your FI will handle his BM and maybe one day Karma will pay the BM back for being such a dingleberry.  Until then, remember..... it's one more thing to laugh about on your 10 year anniversary.

  • Aw I'm really sorry. I agree to just let him bag out. You don't need someone complaining about helping for your wedding. For what it's worth, I went to a wedding last year where lots of people were helping decorate. It was a friend of FI. I hadn't officially been asked to help, but day of I was super happy to chip in and do whatever was needed - so did a bunch of other random guests. So you may have more helpers popping out of the woodwork as you get closer!

No no no, it's a great dress. I love it. I just was making the point that if i can decorate in a wedding gown he can decorate in his shirt sleeves and slacks.

I'm actually glad it was the first thing that sent me over the edge. Because later yesterday FI's old roommate was a colassal douchecanoe and quite possibly might not be coming to the wedding now. Then this morning I wake up to a HUGE break up between the couple that actually introduced FI and me. I'm hoping that's the end of the weird friend drama. I even commented to FI when we got in bed last night , "Seriously, what is going on today, people are being INSANE."

You've got it Von! I know it's going to end up being fine... it was just really really annoying to hear it when I can literally do nothing about it at this point. Deep breaths, everything will be fine! My MOH is coming in from out of town tomorrow and she's a fantasticly perfect match for my sarcasm and cynicism so I have no doubt she'll help keep things in perspective on the final few days of lead up!
